Our working, shown

Where this data comes from

One rule: if a requirement isn’t on an official university page or document, it doesn’t go on Studypath as a fact. This page shows what we have, how sure we are, and – just as important – what we still don’t know.

How to read our labels

Checked

We opened the official page or document ourselves and read the statement. This includes the rule being in a university’s own calculator code.

From our research

From our research. A source is cited, but we haven’t re-read it ourselves – often because the university’s website blocks automated checks. Treat it as “likely right, please confirm”.

Not from an official source

General knowledge or advice with no official source behind it. We always say so, and suggest where you can check.

Could not be confirmed Sources disagree

We couldn’t confirm it, or two official sources disagree. We show you both rather than pick one.

The rules we hold ourselves to

Every number links to its source

Not in a tooltip. A visible link, next to the number, on every programme. If you find a figure without one, that’s a bug.

We never put universities on one scale

Their scoring systems measure different things. Comparing them would produce a number that is confidently wrong. The calculator gives a separate result per university, every time.

When sources disagree, we show both

Wits’s Bachelor of Architectural Studies is the clearest example: one Wits document says APS 34, the programme’s own FAQ says 29. You see a “Sources disagree” badge and both figures.

When we can’t compute something, we say so

The Wits Health Sciences Composite Index needs your NBT and Wits publishes no cut-off, so we don’t calculate it. Guessing would hand you a number to plan your life around that we made up.

How each university scores you – and whether we got it right

Every formula below was checked against the university’s own published rule on 1 October 2026. Where we found differences in our first attempt, we fixed them.

UCT Faculty Points Score

UCT adds your six best subject percentages, excluding Life Orientation, but always including English and any subject the degree requires. A result below 40% in a subject scores nothing. For Commerce, Engineering & the Built Environment, Humanities and Law this is your Faculty Points Score (FPS), out of 600.

What we confirmed

  • Add the six best subject percentages, excluding Life Orientation, but including English and any other subject the programme requires.
  • For Commerce, Engineering & the Built Environment, Humanities and Law the Faculty Points Score (FPS) out of 600 equals the APS.
  • A result below 40% in any subject does not attract a score.

UCT Science Faculty Points Score

For UCT Science, your English counts once, your Mathematics and Physical Sciences each count twice, and your best three other subjects count once (excluding Life Orientation). A result below 40% in a subject scores nothing.

What we confirmed

  • For the Faculty of Science the FPS is out of 800: count English, double the scores for Mathematics and Physical Sciences, and add the best three of the remaining scores, other than Life Orientation.
  • UCT’s own worked example (English 75, isiXhosa 70, Mathematics 84, Physical Sciences 86, Consumer Studies 79, Engineering Graphics & Design 69) gives 633 / 800, and our calculator reproduces it.

Wits APS

Wits counts your best seven subjects including Life Orientation, and the subjects your degree requires must be among them. Each subject scores 8 (90-100%) down to 3 (40-49%), and nothing below 40%. English and Mathematics get +2 from 60% up. Life Orientation scores only 4, 3, 2 or 1 for 90, 80, 70 or 60% and up.

What we confirmed

  • Best seven subjects including Life Orientation, and faculty-specific subjects must be included in the calculation.
  • Points: 90-100% = 8, 80-89% = 7, 70-79% = 6, 60-69% = 5, 50-59% = 4, 40-49% = 3, below 40% = 0.
  • English and Mathematics get +2 from 60% up (so 90-100% = 10).
  • Life Orientation scores 4 / 3 / 2 / 1 at 90 / 80 / 70 / 60% and up, otherwise 0, with no bonus.

Wits Composite Index

Wits Health Sciences does not use APS. It uses a Composite Index of 75% school average across 5 subjects and 25% NBT - and Wits does not publish the cut-off scores.

What we confirmed

  • Composite Index = 75% school average across 5 subjects + 25% NBT.

What we could not confirm

  • Wits does not publish the Composite Index cut-off scores, so there is no number to measure you against. We do not calculate this.

We cannot work this out for you: it needs your NBT results, and Wits does not publish the cut-off you would be measured against. Contact Wits Health Sciences admissions directly (see Contacts on Wits’s page) to find out where you stand.

UP APS

UP adds the NSC achievement levels (1 to 7) of your six best subjects, excluding Life Orientation.

What we confirmed

  • Six 20-credit recognised subjects on the NSC 1-7 scale, adding them together, for a maximum of 42.
  • Life Orientation is excluded.
  • Level 7 = 80-100%, 6 = 70-79%, 5 = 60-69%, 4 = 50-59%, 3 = 40-49%, 2 = 30-39%, 1 = 0-29%.

UJ adds the NSC achievement levels (1 to 7) of six subjects, excluding Life Orientation. The degree’s compulsory subjects are counted first, then your best of the rest.

What we confirmed

  • Six subjects, added up on the NSC 1-7 scale (7 = 80-100%, 6 = 70-79%, 5 = 60-69%, 4 = 50-59%, 3 = 40-49%, 2 = 30-39%, 1 = 0-29%), maximum 42.
  • Life Orientation is not counted. The prospectus’s own worked example (65%, 71%, 61%, 68%, 81%, 86% = 5+6+5+5+7+7 = 35) matches our calculation.

UKZN APS

UKZN adds six subjects on an 8-point scale (90-100% = 8, 80-89% = 7 ... 0-29% = 1), excluding Life Orientation. English, Mathematics (or Mathematical Literacy) and your best other subjects make up the six.

What we confirmed

  • Points: 90-100% = 8, 80-89% = 7, 70-79% = 6, 60-69% = 5, 50-59% = 4, 40-49% = 3, 30-39% = 2, 0-29% = 1.
  • Six subjects, excluding Life Orientation, for a maximum of 48.
  • English, Mathematics (or Mathematical Literacy) and the best of the other subjects make up the six; no bonus points for extra subjects.

What we could not confirm

Stellenbosch aggregate

Stellenbosch does not use APS at all. It uses your NSC average as a percentage, excluding Life Orientation. We average your six best subjects, which is how Stellenbosch works its own selection marks.

What we confirmed

  • Stellenbosch uses a percentage aggregate excluding Life Orientation, not an APS.
  • Engineering selection mark = Mathematics% + Physical Sciences% + 6 x the Matric average, where the average is of the six best subjects excluding Life Orientation (maximum 800).
  • Science selection mark = [(Mathematics x 2) + 5 other subjects, at least one of them English or Afrikaans, excluding Life Orientation] / 7.

What we could not confirm

  • The booklet does not define "aggregate" for the minimum requirements in so many words. We use the average of the six best subjects excluding Life Orientation, as it does for the Engineering mark. If you take more than six such subjects this could differ slightly.

Rhodes points

Rhodes takes the percentage of each of your six subjects, divides each by 10, and adds them up. Life Orientation is not scored, but you must get at least 50% in it.

What we confirmed

  • Take the percentage of each of your 6 subjects, divide each by 10, and add them up.
  • Life Orientation is not counted for points, but you must get at least 50% in it for acceptance.

What we could not confirm

  • Rhodes says "your 6 subjects" without saying which six if you take more; we use your six best.

UWC weighted points

UWC weights English and Mathematics most: they score 1, 3, 5 ... 15 from level 1 to 8. Your additional language, Mathematical Literacy and each of your three best other subjects score the level itself (1-8). Life Orientation adds 0-3.

What we confirmed

  • Seven subjects: English, an additional language, Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy, Life Orientation, and your 3 best other subjects.
  • English and Mathematics score 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 at levels 1-8; the additional language, Mathematical Literacy and each other subject score the level itself (1-8).
  • Life Orientation scores 0-3.

What we could not confirm

  • CONFLICT: UWC’s application-information page puts Mathematical Literacy in the same high-points column as Mathematics, but UWC’s own calculator says it "no longer" does and scores it as an ordinary subject. We follow the calculator.
  • CONFLICT (small): for Life Orientation at level 1 (20-29%) UWC’s table says 1 point and its calculator gives 0. We follow the calculator.

Univen APS

Univen takes the percentage of each of your best six subjects (excluding Life Orientation), divides each by 10, and adds them up - any subject under 40% scores 0 rather than a fraction. General minimum for a Bachelor’s degree is APS 26.

What we confirmed

  • "Points are calculated on the best six subjects excluding Life Orientation" (more than 7 subjects: best 7 are used); subjects under 40% are not counted; general Bachelor’s minimum is APS 26.
  • RESOLVED 2026-10-03: the user supplied a screenshot of Univen's own scoring-scale table (Matric symbol / NSC level / Percentage / Score) - the "Score" column is simply the percentage divided by 10 (e.g. 85% = 8.5), with 0 for anything under 30% (the table's F/G bands) - not a flat per-level score as every other university on this site uses. This matches the RU_pct_div10-style percentage formula, just with a 40%-floor twist layered on by the Prospectus text above.

What we could not confirm

  • We have not checked it against a worked example with a shown total, and the “best 7 if more than 7 subjects” rule in the prospectus text is not modelled - we always use your best 6.

WSU APS

WSU reserves two subject slots for your best two languages, and four more for the subjects your programme requires (then your best of the rest) - each scored on an 8-point scale (90-100% = 8 down to 0-29% = 1), excluding Life Orientation. Education programmes also count Life Orientation as a 7th subject, out of 56 instead of 48.

What we confirmed

  • Best six subjects (seven for Education programmes, which also count Life Orientation), excluding Life Orientation otherwise.
  • Points: 90-100% = 8 down to 0-29% = 1.
  • Two subjects reserved for languages (Category 1); four for the subjects the programme requires (Category 2).

What we could not confirm

  • We use your best two languages for Category 1. The brochure does not say whether it means your two best or one specific pair (for example English plus your home language), so this is our reading of “languages”.

UFH APS

UFH sums the standard NSC achievement level (1-7) of seven subjects: your Home Language, your First Additional Language, Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy, Life Orientation, and your best three others - no exclusions, caps or halving, confirmed against a worked example on UFH’s own online APS calculator.

What we confirmed

  • General minimum APS of 26 or higher "depending on the programme".
  • UFH’s own online APS-calculator JavaScript sums standard NSC achievement levels (1-7) across seven subject slots (two languages, Mathematics/Mathematical Literacy, Life Orientation, three electives), with no exclusion or cap logic found in that code.
  • RESOLVED 2026-10-03: the user supplied a screenshot of a worked example run through UFH's own calculator (English HL 65%, Afrikaans FAL 55%, Mathematics 80%, Life Orientation 85%, Physical Science 75%, Life Sciences 80%, Geography 65% -> "Total APS: 41") - a plain sum of all seven subjects' standard NSC levels (5+4+7+7+6+7+5=41) matches exactly, confirming Life Orientation is NOT halved or capped in practice despite denser policy text elsewhere suggesting it might be.

UniZulu APS

UniZulu adds your best six subjects, excluding Life Orientation, on an 8-point scale (90-100% = 8 down to 0-29% = 1) - the same method as NWU and UKZN. We have not yet captured a UniZulu programme with a published APS minimum to check it against, but the formula itself is ready.

What we confirmed

  • Best six subjects, excluding Life Orientation.
  • Points: 90-100% = 8, 80-89% = 7, 70-79% = 6, 60-69% = 5, 50-59% = 4, 40-49% = 3, 30-39% = 2, 0-29% = 1 - the same scale as NWU and UKZN.

What we could not confirm

  • The source document’s URL and content carry no explicit 2027 label, so its currency for the 2027 intake is not independently confirmed (the arithmetic matches standard national practice). We have not yet captured a UniZulu programme with a published APS minimum to check this against.

  • Standard NSC achievement levels 1-7.

What we could not confirm

VUT APS

VUT adds the NSC achievement levels (1 to 7) of your best six subjects, excluding Life Orientation. Several programmes also apply their own additional selection rules on top (e.g. a combined Mathematics + Physical Science threshold) which we show in the programme’s own notes rather than compute.

What we confirmed

  • Best six subjects, excluding Life Orientation.

What we could not confirm

  • VUT’s document did not spell out the exact points-per-percentage table, so we assume the standard NSC 1-7 achievement-level scale (no extra 90%+ band) used by UP, UJ and UL - VUT’s published programme APS figures are consistent with that scale. Several programmes also apply additional selection rules (e.g. a combined Mathematics + Physical Science threshold) we show as a note rather than compute.

What we confirmed

  • Best six subjects, excluding Life Orientation ("not a 20-credit subject").

What we could not confirm

  • DUT’s document did not spell out the exact points-per-percentage table; we assume the standard NSC 1-7 achievement-level scale, consistent with its published programme APS figures. Several programmes also apply additional selection rules (e.g. a combined Mathematics + Physical Science threshold) we show as a note rather than compute, and many DUT programmes publish no single APS cut-off at all.

CPUT APS

CPUT uses one of three methods depending on the programme, each dividing a sum of percentages by 10 (so e.g. "30" means an average around 50-60% across the counted subjects, not an NSC level sum). Method 1 (most programmes) sums your best six subjects, including any the programme requires, excluding Life Orientation. Method 2 (CPUT’s Engineering diplomas) sums the subjects the programme requires plus your next-best subject, doubling Mathematics (or Technical Mathematics) and Physical Sciences (or Technical Sciences). Method 3 (some Commerce programmes) sums English plus your best three others, doubling Mathematics and Accounting.

What we confirmed

  • Method 1 (best of six subjects): six highest-scoring subjects, including any the programme requires, excluding Life Orientation; percentages summed and divided by 10.
  • Method 2 (double Maths and Science): required subjects plus the 4th-highest, excluding LO, with Mathematics and Physical Sciences doubled, divided by 10 - used for CPUT’s Engineering diplomas.
  • Method 3 (double Maths and Accounting): Mathematics and Accounting doubled, plus English and the next three best subjects excluding LO, divided by 10 - used for some Commerce programmes.

What we could not confirm

  • Method 3 has no captured CPUT programme to check against, so it is built from the confirmed rule but not tested against a real example. The source is an Issuu flipbook that could not be re-read.

A score of 21 or less is not admitted; 22-26 needs a selection test; 27 or more is CUT’s general floor (some programmes, like Engineering, require more).

What we confirmed

  • "A candidate must score at least 27 or more points on the CUT scoring scale, for admission to CUT." Points 30-39%=2 up to 90-100%=8 for six academic subjects.
  • "Life Orientation forms part of the final score, with a maximum value of one" regardless of the actual LO mark.
  • 21 or fewer points: not admitted. 22-26: a selection test is required.

What we confirmed

  • Best six subjects excluding Life Orientation, each on the standard 1-8 NSC level scale, summed - no Life Orientation bonus at all.
  • RESOLVED 2026-10-03: a 4th independent MUT document (its own admission-requirements page, screenshotted by the user) shows the identical NSC-level-to-points matrix already implemented (90-100%=8 down to 40-49%=3) - a fourth source now agrees on the six-subject, no-LO-bonus formula.

NMU Applicant Score (AS)

NMU does not use a 1-7 level-based APS at all - its Applicant Score (AS) sums your best six subjects’ raw percentages (not achievement levels), excluding Life Orientation, out of 600. Applicants from quintile 1-3 schools who score 50%+ in Life Orientation get a 7-point bonus, which we do not add - so our number can only undersell, never oversell, a qualifying applicant.

What we confirmed

  • NMU’s "Applicant Score" (AS) sums the raw percentages (not NSC achievement levels) of your best six 20-credit subjects, excluding Life Orientation, out of 600.
  • Applicants from quintile 1-3 schools who score 50%+ in Life Orientation get a 7-point bonus.
  • 16 programmes now captured, each with a published AS minimum consistent with this formula.

What we could not confirm

  • Most of the faculty guides behind these programmes are dated 2024 (apparently the 2025 intake) and are not confirmed as current for 2027. The quintile 1-3 Life Orientation bonus is not modelled; we show the base AS, which is never higher than a student’s true score.

SPU sums seven subjects on the 8-point scale (90-100% = 8 down to 0-29% = 1): your Home Language, First Additional Language, Mathematics, Life Orientation, and your best three others. On top of that base sum, Mathematics and your Home Language each earn a bonus from their own level (+2 at level 5+, +1 at level 3-4, +0 below) - and Life Orientation is scored on its own separate scale (4 points at level 8, down to 0 at level 4 or below) instead of the main 8-point scale. General minimums: Bachelor’s degree APS 30, Diploma APS 25.

What we confirmed

  • General minimums: Bachelor’s degree APS 30, Diploma APS 25.
  • English: NSC level 4 (Home Language) or level 5 (First Additional Language).
  • RESOLVED 2026-10-03: the user supplied a screenshot of SPU's own live APS Calculator table (NSC Achievement Level / NSC% / SPU Points Score / Additional points for Mathematics and Language (HL) / Points for Life Orientation). It names seven fixed subject slots (Home Language, First Additional Language, Mathematics, Life Orientation, three electives), scores six of them on the standard 8-point scale (90-100%=8), gives Mathematics and the Home Language subject a further bonus from their own level (+2 at level 5+, +1 at level 3-4), and scores Life Orientation on its own separate 0-4 scale instead of the main one.

SMU APS

SMU sums the standard NSC achievement level (1-7) of seven subjects: English, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Life Orientation, and your best two others - confirmed from SMU’s own published conversion table, whose higher points (8-12) are for other qualifications like A-Levels and IB, not NSC marks.

What we confirmed

  • RESOLVED 2026-10-03: a raw read of the HTML tables on SMU's own Medicine admission-requirements page (an earlier pass had misread an AI-summarised version of the same page, which merged columns from Table 2 and reported the wrong conversion) shows Table 2's "NSC marks %" column is just the standard 1-7 NSC achievement-level scale (80-100%=7 down to 0-29%=1) - its higher points (8-12) are for other qualifications (A-Level, IB, IGCSE etc.), not NSC marks at all.
  • Table 1's apparent 29-vs-38 mismatch is not an error: it shows two different totals side by side - a 29-point "SMU Admission Score for preselection" using only the five named subjects (English, Mathematics, Physical Science, Life Sciences, Life Orientation), and a 38-point "Minimum APS Points" total that also includes two unnamed "Additional subject" slots (minimums 5 and 4). So MBChB's real APS is the standard seven-subject sum, same shape as most other universities on this site.
  • SMU Pharmacy and Health Care Sciences programmes (Dietetics, Nursing, OT, Physiotherapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology) already state subject minimums on this same standard 1-7 scale.

Partly checkedWe calculate this

UFS AP score

UFS scores six academic subjects from 8 (90-100%) down to 2 (30-39%), and nothing below 30%. Life Orientation adds one point at 60% or more. For Medicine it is the four compulsory subjects plus your best two.

What we confirmed

  • Points for six academic subjects: 90-100% = 8, 80-89% = 7, 70-79% = 6, 60-69% = 5, 50-59% = 4, 40-49% = 3, 30-39% = 2, below 30% = none.
  • Life Orientation adds 1 point at 60% or more.
  • For MBChB the AP is worked from the four compulsory subjects (English, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences) plus the best two others.

What we could not confirm

  • The 2027 document points to the AP scale "in the official UFS Prospectus". The only scale we could read is from the 2024 prospectus, so we assume it is unchanged. Other UFS faculties may count subjects differently.

Wits

Health Sciences - Composite Index cut-offs

Wits Health Sciences uses a Composite Index (75% school average across 5 subjects, 25% NBT) rather than APS, and does not publish the cut-off scores at all. This is not a research gap we can close - the numbers are not public.

UCT

UCT NBT contact in the research pack

The research pack lists nbt@uct.ac.za for UCT NBT queries. UCT’s own contacts page (uct.ac.za/general-contacts) lists adp-aarp@uct.ac.za and +27 21 650 3523 / 5045 for the National Benchmark Tests. We use UCT’s published contact. The same page lists undergraduate financial aid as financialaid@uct.ac.za / +27 21 650 3545, which differs from the address in the pack.

UCT

Research pack claim: UCT faculties use FPS out of 800

The research pack says UCT faculties use a Faculty Points Score out of 800. UCT’s own guidelines say only the Faculty of Science is out of 800; Commerce, Engineering & the Built Environment, Humanities and Law are out of 600 (equal to the APS) and Health Sciences is out of 900. We use UCT’s wording.

UKZN

All programmes - 2027 figures

The most recent official source found is the Study@UKZN brochure labelled 2026. No 2027 table was found on an official UKZN source. All UKZN rows are flagged as a dated document in the product. SPOT-CHECK 2026-10-01: direct fetches succeeded for chs.ukzn.ac.za and commerce.ukzn.ac.za (unlike most other universities blocked in this environment). MBChB and BCom Accounting were confirmed unchanged against their own live pages and moved off the dated brochure. LLB was spot-checked by search only and is unchanged (APS 32, same subject levels; an extended 28-31 band was also found). BSc Computer Science & Information Technology’s own School of Mathematics, Statistics & Computer Science page (wp-smscs.ukzn.ac.za, reached via web search since its domain did not resolve for this pass’s fetch tool) states English and Life Orientation at level 5, not the level 4 the 2026 brochure gives - a genuine conflict, now shown via flag('conflict', ...) rather than silently resolved (see db/data/programs-ukzn.mjs). Engineering and BCom General were not re-checked this pass and remain on the dated brochure.

UWC

Weighted points conversion table

RESOLVED except two conflicts. The scoring rule was read from UWC’s own official APS calculator code: English and Mathematics score 1,3,5...15 from level 1 to 8; the additional language, Mathematical Literacy and other subjects score the level (1-8); Life Orientation 0-3; total = English + additional language + Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy + Life Orientation + 3 best others (maximum 65). CONFLICT 1: UWC’s application-information page puts Mathematical Literacy in the same high-points column as Mathematics, but its calculator says it no longer does. We follow the calculator. CONFLICT 2: for Life Orientation at 20-29% the table says 1 point and the calculator gives 0. We follow the calculator.

UWC

Subject minimums, all faculties except Law

STALE NOTE CORRECTED 2026-10-02: this entry said "all other UWC faculties remain a full gap" after only Law was resolved - that is no longer true. UWC-PASS-2 (below) subsequently added 15 more programmes across Natural Sciences, EMS, Arts & Humanities, Education, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing and Social Work, all at the same search-synthesis confidence tier as the Law rows this entry originally described. See uwc-pass-2 for the full detail; this entry is kept for history rather than deleted.

UWC

Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Natural Sciences, EMS, Education

STALE NOTE CORRECTED 2026-10-02: this said "not verified in this pass" and was left that way across several later passes that actually did verify these faculties. UWC-PASS-2 (below) added programmes in every one of Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Natural Sciences, EMS and Education - see that entry for the figures and confidence tier. Kept for history rather than deleted.

UWC

15 new programmes across Natural Sciences, EMS, Arts & Humanities, Education, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing and Social Work (17 total with the 2 from the earlier pass)

RESOLVED the full-gap faculties named in uwc-faculties above, to the same "search-synthesis" confidence tier as the LLB/BCom Law pass: every figure was found via web search surfacing UWC’s own programme pages and PDFs (uwc.ac.za), not a raw fetch of the full page (this environment’s network egress still blocks direct fetches to university domains), so every new row is flagged [partially-verified][unverified]. Two genuine conflicts found and shown rather than hidden: Bachelor of Nursing’s Mathematics/Mathematical Literacy requirement differs between two official UWC sources (level 3/4 vs level 4/6 plus Life Sciences); and BSc Computer Science’s own PDF is titled a "4 YR" version with a second programme code (3221) also in use, so its duration is left null rather than guessed. BCom (General)’s duration is also left null for the same reason (the page title says "(4 Year)" but we could not confirm this is the standard duration rather than an extended curriculum). BSc Mathematics & Statistical Sciences was deliberately left out: the only figure found (Mathematics level 3) looked implausibly low for a Mathematics major and may be the general-faculty floor rather than a programme-specific minimum - worth a direct re-read before publishing. Natural Sciences (Chemical Sciences, Physical Science, Environmental & Water Science, Biodiversity & Conservation Biology), Pharmacy, Dentistry (BDS) and Nursing durations are mostly left null where the source did not state them plainly.

NWU

LLB, BCom, BEd, BA, Health Sciences

STALE NOTE CORRECTED 2026-10-02: this said "not researched, ran out of budget" and was left that way across later passes that actually did research all five of these. NWU-PASS-2 (below) added LLB, three BCom streams, a renamed BEd Foundation Phase, two BA streams and a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Human Movement Sciences/Sport Coaching) - see that entry for figures and confidence tier. Kept for history rather than deleted.

NWU

15 new programmes across Law, Education, Humanities, Health Sciences, Economic & Management Sciences and Natural & Agricultural Sciences (17 total with the 2 from the earlier pass)

RESOLVED the nwu-remainder gap above, to the same web-search-synthesis confidence tier used for every NWU row: every figure was found via web search surfacing NWU’s own faculty/department pages, not a raw fetch of the full page (this environment’s network egress still blocks direct fetches to university domains), so every new row is flagged [partially-verified][unverified]. One real conflict found and shown rather than hidden: a 2026 NWU Faculty of Education yearbook PDF says its listed BEd programmes are being phased out with last intake in 2022, while NWU’s current 2027 undergraduate studies page separately lists BEd Foundation Phase (now also called "Early Childhood Care and Education") at APS 26 - we show the current page’s figures but flag the conflict for re-confirmation. NWU’s BSc in Information Technology was deliberately left out even though its admission requirements (APS 26, Mathematics level 4) were found, because the same source states there will be no 2027 intake - it is being phased out. Several durations are left null where NWU’s own pages did not state them (BCom Chartered Accountancy, LLB, BCom Business Management, BCom Agricultural Economics, BSc Tourism). LLB’s Extended programme (5 years, APS 28) and Chartered Accountancy’s Extended programme (5 years, APS 28) are noted but not added as separate rows - their own full subject requirements were not independently confirmed.

NWU

11 of 17 existing programmes raw-confirmed, 1 corrected, 1 new row added - from 6 user-supplied NWU 2026 Faculty Yearbooks

RESOLVED most of nwu-pass-2’s [unverified] tier: the user supplied 8 NWU 2026 Faculty Yearbooks (Humanities, Theology, Education, Economic & Management Sciences, Engineering, Health Sciences, Law, and Natural & Agricultural Sciences), of which 6 were read this pass (Natural & Agricultural Sciences was not, for time reasons - see below). Every figure checked matched exactly except one real correction: the row published as "BSc (Tourism)" is actually a BCom (Marketing and Tourism Management), and was missing its Mathematical Literacy level 6 (70%) alternative to Mathematics level 3 (40%) - both fixed, row renamed to nwu-bcom-tourism. The BEd Foundation Phase/Early Childhood Care and Education [conflict] flag from nwu-pass-2 is resolved: the current 2026 Faculty of Education Yearbook itself lists ECCE as a live, active programme at the same APS/duration already shown, so the "phasing out" document that conflict was built on does not apply to this current yearbook. BEng gained its first confirmed duration (4 years minimum). Added one new row with an existing career fit: BA in Graphic Design (artist), a portfolio/interview-selected programme found in the Humanities yearbook. Not re-checked this pass, still [unverified]: BSc Agricultural Sciences, BSc Mathematical Sciences (both in the unread Natural & Agricultural Sciences yearbook) and the Human Movement Sciences/Sport Coaching row (its own admission table was not located within the Health Sciences yearbook in the time available, though Nursing, Pharmacy and Social Work from the same document were all raw-confirmed).

UFS

Everything except MBChB

STALE NOTE CORRECTED 2026-10-02: this said "not researched, only MBChB is captured" and was left that way across two later passes. UFS-PASS-2 (below) added 15 more programmes (Law, Health Sciences, Humanities incl. Music and Social Work, Education, Economic & Management Sciences, Natural & Agricultural Sciences), bringing UFS to 16 total - see that entry for figures, gaps and confidence tier. Kept for history rather than deleted.

UFS

AP score formula

PARTLY RESOLVED. The 2027 MBChB selection rules confirm the structure (four compulsory subjects plus best two, 1 point for Life Orientation at level 5+) but defer to the prospectus for the point scale. The only scale we could read is in UFS’s 2024 prospectus (90-100% = 8, 80-89% = 7 ... 30-39% = 2, below 30% none), so we use it and flag it as coming from an older document. Confirm against the current UFS prospectus.

General

Bursaries - the whole dataset

STALE ENTRY CORRECTED 2026-10-01: this said the bursaries table was empty, which stopped being true before this pass - NSFAS was already verified and five more (Sasol x2, Allan Gray Orbis, Investec, SAICA Thuthuka) were already reported. This pass added three more, each verified by a direct fetch of the provider’s own page this pass: Eskom’s Engineering Diploma bursary (eskomcareers.ci.hr), the FirstRand Empowerment Foundation Undergraduate Bursary administered by StudyTrust, and Vodacom’s External Bursary Programme. 9 bursaries are now live. Tried and not added: Funza Lushaka (the Department of Basic Education’s own pages confirm the eligibility and process but not a 2027-specific closing date - only aggregator sites give one, so we left the deadline gap rather than guess it); Transnet, MTN and Shoprite (closing dates found only on aggregator sites, not the provider’s own page, in this pass).

Univen

8 programmes across Health Sciences, Education, Agriculture, Commerce, Law, Social Work

APS formula and 8 programmes captured from the official 2027 Undergraduate Prospectus PDF. Gaps: the 2027 application closing date was not found in the pages read (only the 1 May 2026 opening date); Univen’s own published points-table did not clearly match a standard NSC level scale, so its scoring system (UNIVEN_APS) is registered but not yet computable - each programme shows its published APS as reference only.

WSU

8 programmes including MBChB, Nursing, LLB, BEd, Accounting, Commerce, Social Work, Pest Management

Full APS formula (including the Education-programme exception that counts Life Orientation as a 7th subject) and 8 programmes captured from WSU’s own 2027 admissions brochure. Gap: the 2-category (2 language slots + 4 required-subject slots) selection logic is confirmed but not yet built into the calculator, so WSU_APS is registered non-computable for now - each programme shows its published APS as reference only. The 2027 closing date was not found in the 54-page brochure read.

WSU

BEd Foundation Phase raw-confirmed by a second document; new BSc streams identified by name but not yet added (no admission table found)

The user supplied 5 more WSU documents (per-faculty prospectuses for Education, Law/Humanities & Social Sciences, Management & Public Administration, Natural Sciences, and a Mthatha-campus Health Sciences prospectus) - all dated 2024, three years older than the 2027 admissions brochure wsu-pass-1 was built from, so treated as a weaker confirmation tier, not a replacement. BEd Foundation Phase Teaching's figures matched the 2027 brochure exactly in the Education prospectus - RAW-CONFIRMED and upgraded from partially-verified to verified. The Natural Sciences prospectus names several BSc streams WSU does not yet have captured (Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Biological Sciences, Environmental Studies, Applied Statistical Sciences - each with an obvious existing career_id fit: mathematician, physicist, chemist, software-engineer, biologist, environmental-scientist, data-scientist respectively) but the document itself is a programme-overview prospectus, not an admission-requirements table - no NSC subject levels or APS numbers were found for any of them, so none were added rather than guessed. The WSU 2027 admissions brochure (wsu-pass-1's own source) is the next place to look for these same qualification codes' actual admission figures. The Law/Humanities & Social Sciences and Management & Public Administration prospectuses were skimmed but not deeply mined - also starting points for a future pass. The Mthatha Health Sciences prospectus was not read at all this pass.

UFH

7 programmes across Health Sciences, Education, Agriculture, Commerce, Law, Social Work

Subject-level requirements captured from 7 official UFH course pages, plus the general APS statement and UFH’s own online APS-calculator JavaScript (confirms it sums standard NSC levels across 7 subject slots including Life Orientation). Gap: no UFH programme page states its own numeric APS minimum, so min_aps is null throughout and UFH_APS is non-computable - there is nothing published yet to check a score against. The LLB page’s Mathematics/Maths Literacy/Technical Maths levels were ambiguous in the source and are shown as a note rather than a guess. Confirmed 2027 dates: applications open 1 May 2026, close 31 October 2026.

UFH

7 of 15 existing rows gained their first real APS numbers, 3 new rows added - from 6 user-supplied 2026 faculty prospectuses

RESOLVED 2026-10-03 for the faculties checked: the user supplied 6 official UFH faculty prospectuses (Health Sciences, Education, Law, Management & Commerce, Science & Agriculture, Social Sciences & Humanities), finally giving real admission tables - ufh-pass-1's universal "min_aps: null" was a genuine absence on UFH's individual course pages, not a research gap, and these faculty-level prospectuses are what actually state the numbers. Law, Health Sciences, Education and Social Sciences & Humanities all have a clean "Minimum APS" table; Management & Commerce and Science & Agriculture do not (checked, genuinely absent - these two faculties remain min_aps: null, still open for whatever document supplies their own admission table). Filled in APS for Nursing (28, 29 with Mathematical Literacy), LLB (30 - its Mathematics/Mathematical Literacy/Technical Mathematics ambiguity from ufh-pass-1 is NOT resolved by this document, which only tabulates English), BEd Foundation Phase (28/29), Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Social Science, and Bachelor of Fine Art (all 27, from one shared FSSH summary table that also confirmed each one's duration). Added 3 new rows with an existing career fit: Bachelor of Health Sciences in Human Movement Science (sport-scientist), Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (speech-therapist), both AP28/29 from the Health Sciences prospectus's own admission table; and Bachelor of Music (performer, AP27) from the FSSH summary table, though its audition/portfolio requirement (likely, per every other university's BMus) was not confirmed in that summary-only table. Bachelor of Education in Intermediate Phase Teaching was found at an identical APS/subject profile to Foundation Phase but not added as its own row, since it shares the same career_id. Still unconfirmed and worth a future pass: the Agriculture BSc streams and all BCom/BAdmin rows (Management & Commerce and Science & Agriculture's own admission tables were not found in the documents read this time), and whether UFH_APS's formula (sum of 7 subjects' NSC achievement ratings, Life Orientation halved - stated identically in both the Health Sciences and Law prospectuses) could now be implemented and tested, now that real APS numbers exist to check it against; not attempted this pass given the risk of shipping an unverified scoring-engine change with no further scheduled check.

UniZulu

14 programmes across Education, Commerce/Law, Science/Agriculture/Nursing

Follow-up pass: all three located faculty handbooks (Education, Commerce/Administration/Law, Science/Agriculture/Engineering) were downloaded and fully text-extracted, yielding 14 usable programmes - UNIZULU_APS is now in active use. All three handbooks are labelled "2026" with zero 2027 intake/closing-date information anywhere in them, so no closing date is published for any UniZulu programme and none should be assumed. Two Intermediate Phase BEd streams and a superseded Nursing "pipeline" degree were explicitly marked as having no new intake and are excluded. Social Work was searched for in all three handbooks with zero hits - it most likely sits in a Humanities & Social Sciences faculty whose handbook URL is still unconfirmed. BEd Senior Phase & FET’s own admission table was not locatable (the Education handbook defers it to other faculty handbooks). Several BSc majors (Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Geography, Computer Science) and BEng streams have confirmed general faculty-level rules but no qualification-specific admission block found yet - a reasonable next step. Do not trust third-party aggregator APS figures seen for UniZulu - none were used here.

TUT

8 programmes across Engineering, ICT, Accounting, Education, Nursing, Hospitality

Full APS formula and 8 programmes captured from two official TUT 2027 enrolment PDFs. The formula’s "drop any subject scored at level 1" nuance is confirmed but not yet implemented, so TUT_APS is non-computable for now - each programme shows its published APS as reference only. BEd Foundation Phase (31 July) and Nursing (15 June) close notably earlier than TUT’s standard 30 September date.

TUT

9 new rows added from 6 user-supplied per-faculty 2026/2027 prospectuses (Science, Humanities, Economics & Finance, Management Sciences)

RESOLVED 2026-10-03: the user supplied 7 more TUT documents, 6 of them genuine per-faculty prospectuses far more granular than the general "First-Year Course Information" PDF tut-pass-1 was built from (the 7th, First-Year-Course_Information.pdf, was already the exact file already cited as source_url - no new information there). Spot-checked Diploma in Civil Engineering against the new FEBE Faculty Prospectus and it matched the existing row exactly, raw-confirming that the existing 19 rows remain accurate rather than stale - the other 18 were not individually re-checked this pass for time reasons, still resting on tut-pass-1's confidence tier. These documents list a genuine trap: several qualifications appear twice, once under their current code and once under an older code in a "Phasing out qualifications" section with a stated last-intake year (e.g. Bachelor of Pharmacy BPPH26 current vs BPPH01 phasing out; Bachelor of Environmental Health BPEH25 current vs BPEH01, last intake already closed in 2024; Biokinetics BPBK24 current vs BPBK20) - every new row below was checked against the CURRENT code only. Added 9 new rows with an existing career fit: Bachelor of Pharmacy, Bachelor of Environmental Health, Bachelor of Health Science in Biokinetics, Bachelor of Health Science in Medical Laboratory Science (all Science faculty, all highly competitive selection programmes beyond the stated APS), Diploma in Geology, Diploma in Journalism, Diploma in Economics, Diploma in Financial Management, and Diploma in Retail Business Management. Not yet read: the Arts & Design and ICT faculty prospectuses, and most of Humanities/Management Sciences beyond the two rows added - starting point for a future TUT pass.

VUT

9 programmes across Engineering, IT, Business, Health Sciences, Education, Hospitality

Full APS formula and 9 programmes captured from VUT’s own 2027 minimum-admission-requirements PDF - this closes the gap flagged in an earlier pass (the PDF had been located but not read). Several programmes layer additional selection rules on the basic APS, which are not yet implemented, so VUT_APS is non-computable for now. Could not confirm whether VUT offers a standalone Nursing qualification (only Medical Laboratory Science was found in Health Sciences) - treat as unconfirmed, not as a confirmed absence.

DUT

8 programmes across Engineering, ICT, Accounting, Nursing, Education, Hospitality

Full APS formula and 8 programmes captured from DUT’s 2027 prospectus and how-to-apply PDFs. DUT applications go through the CAO, not DUT directly. Several Engineering, ICT, Accounting and Hospitality programmes state subject/selection rules but no single APS cut-off on their own pages, so min_aps is null for those - DUT_APS is non-computable regardless. Several DUT Health Sciences programmes besides Nursing (Chiropractic, Clinical Technology, Emergency Medical Care, Radiography, Dental Assisting) close much earlier (15 June or 31 August 2026) than the standard 30 September date - not yet captured as separate programmes.

DUT

4 new rows added from 4 of 44 user-supplied departmental handbooks (Chemistry, Sport Studies, Drama)

RESOLVED 2026-10-03 for the handbooks that actually had a usable admission table: the user supplied 44 DUT departmental handbooks (one per subject area across Arts & Design, Accounting & Informatics, Applied Sciences, Health Sciences, Management Sciences), two of which (Study-Opportunities-2027.pdf, entry_requirements.pdf) were already dut-pass-1's own source documents - no new information there. Of the remaining 42, most either point to "the General Handbook for Students, Rule G7" instead of stating their own subject table (e.g. Fine Art and Jewellery Design, several Marketing/Retail/Business School sections), or only cover postgraduate/Advanced-Diploma entry which requires an existing lower qualification rather than NSC results (also Marketing/Retail). The Physics departmental handbook turned out to cover only a PhD programme - DUT appears to have no standalone undergraduate Physics degree via that department. Four handbooks did have real undergraduate admission tables and were added: Diploma in Analytical Chemistry and Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemistry (Chemistry handbook, both English/Mathematics/Physical Science at level 4, no published APS total), Diploma in Drama (Drama and Production Studies handbook, APS 24, English 4/50%, a second language at 3/40%, audition required), and Bachelor of Sport Science and Management (Sport Studies handbook, APS 28, English and Mathematics both 60%, one of Physical/Life/Sport Science at 70%, duration not stated). The other ~38 handbooks (Accounting & Informatics entirely, most of Applied Sciences' larger multi-programme files like Bio and Food Technology [26 admission sections] and Textile Science [22], all of Health Sciences beyond what dut-pass-1 already had, and most of Management Sciences) were not read in this pass - a large remaining body of material for a future DUT pass, ideally one with enough budget to work through each multi-programme handbook's full qualification list rather than a single department at a time.

CPUT

5 programmes confirmed (3 Engineering diplomas, BEd Foundation Phase, Nursing); Accounting/IT/Hospitality NOT confirmed

Follow-up pass: CPUT’s own explanation of its "APS Method 1/2/3" calculation is now confirmed, read directly from page 3 of CPUT’s official 2027 Undergraduate Prospectus (an Issuu-hosted flipbook linked from CPUT’s live admissions page) - CPUT_APS remains non-computable since the arithmetic itself is not yet implemented, but is now fully documented. Bachelor of Nursing (BPNURS) was confirmed in full, including a confirmed early closing date of 30 June 2026. The Accounting (D3ACCY), ICT Applications Development (DPICTA) and Hospitality & Hotel Management (D3HSPH) course pages still show no admission-requirement text - the same 2027 Prospectus flipbook that resolved the APS-method gap is a promising next target for these (only its first 6 of 100+ pages were read this pass; the Business/IT/Hospitality faculty sections were not reached). sda.cput.ac.za (a possible source for a consolidated admission-policy PDF) was unreachable from this environment.

CUT

5 programmes across Engineering, Accounting, Education

APS formula confirmed from CUT’s own page; Civil Engineering was raw-verified from HTML. Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Accountancy and BEd Foundation Phase came through an AI-summarized fetch rather than a raw page read - re-verify before fully trusting. The Mechanical Engineering English requirement (level 3, lower than Maths/Physical Sciences at level 4) looked anomalous and may be an extraction error. CUT’s IT programme page returned content for a different qualification (a Higher Certificate) than the URL implied, so IT was left out entirely rather than published as a guess - confirmed working IT diploma/degree requirements remain a gap. No 2027 closing dates found on any CUT page.

CUT

National Diploma: Information Technology

PARTIALLY RESOLVED 2026-10-01: a web search surfaced a working cut.ac.za/programmes/information-technology page (APS 27, English 50%, Mathematics 40% OR Information Technology 40% OR Mathematical Literacy 60%), resolving the URL/content mismatch from cut-pass-1. This is search-synthesis, not a raw fetch of the page (this environment’s network egress blocks direct fetches to university domains), so it is flagged [partially-verified][unverified] - worth a direct re-read when possible.

MUT

5 programmes across Engineering, IT, Health Sciences, Accounting

CONFLICT: MUT’s general admissions page says APS uses your best five subjects; its IT programme page says best six excluding Life Orientation - both are shown, flagged, neither picked. Figures are raw-extracted from official MUT PDFs, which are labelled "2026" and not yet confirmed as the 2027-intake versions. No APS number was stated for the Civil or Electrical Engineering diploma pages we read, so those show subject minimums only. Mechanical Engineering’s subject table was not reached before stopping - full gap. The Medical Laboratory Science APS figure was ambiguous in extraction and is deliberately not published. No official 2027 closing date found anywhere on mut.ac.za (only unverified third-party claims).

MUT

APS formula conflict resolved (MUT_APS now computable), 2 NEW conflicts surfaced, 7 rows raw-confirmed by a second document

RESOLVED 2026-10-03: the user supplied two more official MUT documents (First-Year Prospectus 2026, Undergraduate Prospectus), both independently stating "best six subjects excluding Life Orientation" - a 3-against-1 majority against the web-found "general admissions page" that had claimed best five. MUT_APS is now implemented in src/scoring.js (same shape as UP/UJ's formula: sum of NSC levels for the best six subjects, no Life Orientation bonus) and no longer counted among the non-computable systems (scripts/test-scoring.mjs's pinned count dropped 7 to 6). Cross-checking the new documents against every existing MUT row raw-confirmed 7 of them exactly (Civil/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering diplomas, Analytical Chemistry, Marketing, Public Management, HR Management) and gave Nature Conservation (Bachelor)'s Mathematics its first real level (4, replacing a vague "pass mark required"). Two NEW conflicts surfaced, both shown rather than picked: the IT diploma's APS total (24 in the Applied and Health Sciences Handbook vs 25 in the First-Year Prospectus) and BSc Environmental Health's duration (4 years vs 3 years) - both official, both labelled 2026, agreeing on everything else. Diploma in Agriculture (Crop Production/Animal Production) and Diploma in Nature Conservation's subject-level breakdowns remain as originally captured - the new documents' own tables for these two were ambiguous in a different, conflicting way and were not used to "fix" what might already be right.

UL

5 programmes confirmed (MBChB, Nursing, Pharmacy, Optometry, LLB); BCom/BAcc, BEd, BSc Agriculture and BSc Mathematical Sciences NOT confirmed

APS formula and 5 Health Sciences/Law programmes confirmed from clean table rows in UL’s 2027 prospectus (its admissions content was diffed against an older edition and found unchanged, so treated as current). UL has no Engineering faculty at all. BCom (Accountancy), BAcc, BEd (several majors), BSc Agriculture streams and BSc Mathematical Sciences were also found in the same document with reliable APS *totals*, but their per-subject level breakdowns could not be reliably extracted from UL’s multi-column tables when flattened to text - deliberately left out rather than guessed. That table re-extraction (ideally from the live PDF directly, not a text flatten) is the starting point for the next UL pass. LLB’s duration was not stated in the document and is left null rather than assumed. No official 2027 closing date found.

UL

LLB and BCom (Accountancy) fully resolved, BAcc added - BCom Business Management/Economics and the Agriculture/Science streams remain unresolved

RESOLVED 2026-10-03 for the rows a clean table made possible: the user supplied a second UL document, UL-Academic-Programme.pdf, whose Faculty of Management & Law section happens to use simple 2-column tables (English/Mathematics, or English alone for Law) rather than the wide multi-subject tables that defeated ul-pass-1 - letting LLB and BCom (Accountancy) both get real subject_requirements and confirmed durations (LLB: 4 years, English HL4/FAL5; BCom Accountancy: 3 years, English and Mathematics both level 4). Added BAcc (Bachelor of Accountancy) as a new row from the same clean table - UL's professional SAICA-track accountancy degree, distinct from the general BCom (Accountancy). ATTEMPTED AND ABANDONED: BCom (Business Management) and BCom (Economics) sit in a wider, still-ambiguous table (English | Mathematics OR Economics | ...), and a second mention of Business Management elsewhere in the same document explicitly labels its Mathematics-column figure as "(Mathematical Literacy)" instead - two mentions of the same programme giving genuinely different signals about which subject is actually required, not just a layout artefact. Left completely unchanged rather than guessed at, including the subject_requirements some of which may already be wrong from ul-pass-1. The Agriculture and Science faculty tables (BSc Agriculture streams, BSc Geology, BSc Mathematical/Life Sciences, Water and Sanitation Sciences) have the same many-column ambiguity and were also left untouched. A cleaner future pass would need the original PDF's table structure (e.g. via a PDF-to-HTML or PDF-to-table tool) rather than pdftotext's flattened text.

NMU

16 programmes across Engineering, IT, Architecture, Nursing, Law, Business

Follow-up pass: 16 programmes captured from official faculty "UG Guide" PDFs and department pages, putting NMU_AS (the 0-600 Applicant Score formula, structurally different from every other university here) to real use for the first time. Most of these guides are dated/closing in 2024, apparently governing the 2025 intake rather than confirmed-current for 2027 - NMU appears to roll the same structure forward annually, but treat figures as "last confirmed" rather than "2027-verified". The quintile 1-3 Life Orientation bonus (+7) is not modelled - we show the base score only, which undersells rather than oversells a qualifying quintile 1-3 applicant. Bachelor of Education (3 distinct streams) and the general BSc streams (Computer Science etc.) were found by qualification code but could not be confirmed to a primary-source admission figure - deliberately left out. Three genuinely 2027-labelled faculty guides (Science, Education, Health Sciences) were located but not yet read - the starting point for the next NMU pass, which should also confirm whether the 2024-sourced figures above still hold.

NMU

7 of 17 existing programmes raw-confirmed (Nursing also gained its duration), 4 new rows added - from a user-supplied "Z-Card" admissions summary

RESOLVED 2026-10-03 for the rows checked: the user supplied a current NMU "Z-Card" - a compact, per-programme admissions summary distinct from the faculty UG Guides nmu-pass-2 was built from - letting Architecture, Nursing, BCom (Computer Science & Information Systems), LLB, and the Civil/Industrial/Marine Engineering diplomas all be raw-confirmed exactly, with Nursing additionally gaining a confirmed 4-year duration (previously null) and a newly-found Extended Curriculum route (5 years, AS 330/345). Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, BIT, BCom Law/BA Law and the remaining BCom streams were not individually re-checked this pass - still resting on the older, dated-2024 UG Guide tier, and still the starting point for whatever NMU pass comes next. Added 4 new rows the Z-Card fully details, each with an existing career fit: BSc Construction Economics/Construction Management (quantity-surveyor, two streams sharing one AS/subject profile), BEd Intermediate Phase (teacher - NMU previously had no BEd row at all; a BEd Senior Phase & FET also exists across several subject-combination streams, not added separately), Bachelor of Health Science in Biokinetics (sport-scientist), and BCom Industrial Psychology & Human Resource Management (industrial-psychologist - NMU also offers a lower-AS BAdmin/BA route to the same outcome, not added separately).

SPU

5 programmes, all in Natural & Applied Sciences

General APS minimums (Bachelor’s 30, Diploma 25) and the English rule are confirmed, and 5 programmes were captured from a direct fetch of SPU’s own Natural & Applied Sciences programme page. SPU’s prospectus PDF could not be extracted (returned only binary/stream data, not text) to confirm the exact points-per-subject formula, so SPU_APS is non-computable. Education, EMS, Humanities and ICT faculty programmes beyond the one Diploma found are a full gap. No 2027 closing date confirmed (only a stale 2021 date found on SPU’s applications page).

UMP

2 programmes confirmed (BCom, BEd Foundation Phase); LLB, BA General and 2 Diplomas found but not independently fetched

BCom and BEd Foundation Phase were confirmed by direct fetch of their own official pages. An APS mechanism (seven subjects, Life Orientation points halved rather than excluded - distinctive if true) was found only via search-result synthesis, not pinned to one official page we fetched ourselves, so UMP_APS is non-computable and this claim is not otherwise published. Four more programmes (LLB, BA General, Diploma in Entrepreneurship, Diploma in ICT) were located with candidate URLs but not independently fetched, so deliberately left out - that fetch-and-confirm pass is the next step. UMP’s consolidated programmes PDF could not be extracted (binary/stream data only). No 2027 closing date confirmed on ump.ac.za (only unverified third-party claims).

UNISA

3 programmes confirmed (BCom, LLB, BEd Foundation Phase); BSc General and BA not included

Unisa’s admission mechanism is fully confirmed and is the same best-6-subjects-excluding-LO NSC method as UP, so UNISA_APS is registered computable - the first new non-computable-by-default university in this batch to get a working calculator. Unisa is distance-only and explicitly states meeting the APS/subject minimums does not guarantee a space for qualifications with limited places. All 3 programmes’ 2027 application window (17 August - 9 October 2026) is stated directly on their own pages. A generic "BSc General" was found but left out (no specific career fits it meaningfully). Unisa’s "BA" is split across many separately-coded major combinations with no single general page - left out rather than picking one combination arbitrarily; re-fetching one specific BA-major page directly is the next step.

UNISA

5 more programmes added (BSc General, BSc in Computing, BCom HRM, BA Communication Studies, BSc Agricultural Science: Agricultural Business & Management) - 16 total

RESOLVED 2026-10-01: a direct re-check found eight unlogged programmes already sitting in this file from an earlier, undocumented pass (BSc Applied Mathematics & Computer Science, Social Work, two BA Psychology variants, Bachelor of Accounting Sciences, Bachelor of Administration, Diploma in IT, BA major-pairs) - noting the gap here so the log matches the code. This pass added 5 more by direct WebFetch of unisa.ac.za’s own qualification pages (not blocked for this domain, unlike uj.ac.za/ru.ac.za/uwc.ac.za/nwu.ac.za/ufs.ac.za - confirmed by a 404 on a wrong URL rather than a 403). Two candidates were found and deliberately excluded rather than published: the Bachelor of Arts in Communication Science (98051) and the Bachelor of Education in Intermediate Phase Teaching (90103) are both explicitly marked on Unisa’s own pages as "offered until 2028/2029, ONLY for students previously registered" - i.e. closed to new applicants - so BA Communication Studies (90186, confirmed open) was used instead and no second BEd phase was added. BSc (General)’s Physical Science requirement is conditional on whether Physics/Chemistry modules are chosen and is noted as such rather than stated as a flat minimum.

UNISA

7 more programmes added (BCom Economics, Financial Management, Industrial & Organisational Psychology, Supply Chain and Operations Management; BA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics; BSc Mathematics and Information Systems) - 23 total

RESOLVED 2026-10-03: the user pointed at Unisa's full qualifications index page, which is only a directory of ~450 individual qualification links (Higher Certificates through Bachelor's) with no admission data of its own - each standalone Bachelor's degree and the ~200-entry BA major-pair block were pulled out of the raw HTML (curl, since the index page is too large for the WebFetch summarizer to return a complete link list) and cross-referenced against open career_id gaps. Added 6 new standalone BCom/BA/BSc qualifications by direct WebFetch of each one's own page, all confirmed APS 20-21 with the usual English 50%/Mathematics 50% NSC gate. Industrial and Organisational Psychology is a second, more directly-named route into the existing Industrial Psychologist/HR career page alongside unisa-bcom-hrm. Deliberately excluded: Bachelor of Arts in Criminology (98681) - no fitting career_id exists on this site for Criminology specifically, logged here rather than force-mapped. Also left out the dozens of other named BCom specialisations (Marketing Management, Transport and Logistics) and the ~200 BA major-pairs beyond the one representative example already shown, since one representative row per open career slot is already in the file and more would just be duplicate signal at the same APS/requirement.

SMU

9 programmes across Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Health Care Sciences

SMU’s early undergraduate closing date (31 July 2026, about two months before most other universities in this batch) is confirmed directly on its own page - exactly the "apply early" pattern this site flags for health-sciences faculties elsewhere. All 9 programmes were confirmed by direct fetch of SMU’s own admission-requirement pages. SMU converts marks on its own points scale (A = 12 down to F = 3) for Medicine and Dentistry specifically, which is different from the standard 1-7 NSC level scale its Pharmacy and Health Care Sciences pages use - SMU_APS is non-computable and Medicine/Dentistry subject minimums are described in SMU’s own words rather than forced into our usual fields. Whether MBChB/BDS/Pharmacy require the NBT is unconfirmed (general site text suggests yes, but none of the specific admission-requirement pages we read mentioned it) and is deliberately not stated. No programme page stated a duration, so all 9 show duration as unknown rather than assumed. Radiography, Medical Sciences and Environmental Health programmes were not found/confirmed - may not exist at SMU, or sit elsewhere; a "Bachelor Nursing Sciences and Arts" qualification was found explicitly marked as phasing out and is not included.

General

UMP, CPUT, MUT, UL, SPU, CUT, UFH, Univen, WSU, DUT, VUT, SMU, UniZulu - programme counts

RESOLVED to the 15-programme floor for all 13 universities: UMP 2→15, CPUT 5→15, MUT 5→15, UL 5→15, SPU 5→15, UFH 7→15, Univen 8→15, WSU 8→15, DUT 8→15, VUT 9→15, UniZulu 14→15, CUT 6→15 (added across two sub-passes: 5 rows then 4 more - Public Management, Office Management, Tourism Management, Design & Studio Art, Computer Networking, Quantity Surveying, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Environmental Health, Hospitality Management). SMU was deliberately left at 14 rather than padded to 15 - its 14 rows already cover every school it has (Medicine, Oral Health Sciences, Pharmacy, Health Care Sciences, Science & Technology), and a thorough search found nothing further to add honestly; this is the one university in this batch at full honest coverage rather than the 15-floor. All of CUT’s new rows are search-summarised rather than a raw page read, so re-verifying them directly is a reasonable next step whenever cut.ac.za is reachable for a full fetch again. Mixed sourcing quality throughout: where a university’s domain allowed direct PDF/page reads (confirmed working this pass for ump.ac.za, cput.ac.za prospectus pages, mut.ac.za, ul.ac.za, spu.ac.za, dut.ac.za career leaflets, cut.ac.za), those rows carry higher confidence; where a domain had a TLS certificate issue (univen.ac.za, unizulu.ac.za) or a PDF would not extract to clean text (several UL and WSU tables), rows are flagged [unverified] on top of [partially-verified] and some subject-level details are deliberately left vague rather than guessed. A useful technique found this pass: downloading a PDF via WebFetch and then running `pdftotext -raw` (not `-layout`) on the saved file in this sandbox often recovers clean text from documents that WebFetch’s own summarizer reports as unreadable binary - worth trying first on any future "PDF would not extract" gap before giving up on a primary source. No existing figures were changed, only new programmes added and new careers (paramedic, chiropractor) created for DUT’s Emergency Medical Care and Chiropractic rows. academic-professor was removed from careers.mjs as a genuinely postgraduate-only path with no undergraduate degree of its own, per user instruction; the six non-computable scoring systems (Univen, UFH, MUT, SPU, UMP, SMU) each now tell the student plainly to contact that university’s admissions office directly, per user instruction, rather than waiting on further research passes that this environment cannot reliably complete for those six.

General

Univen, UFH, MUT, SPU, UMP, SMU - APS formulas

UPDATE 2026-10-04: this entry is out of date. All six of these scoring systems (Univen, UFH, MUT, SPU, UMP, SMU) are now calculated: Univen, UFH and SPU from screenshots of the universities’ own calculators (see univen-ufh-spu-aps-computable-2026-10-03), SMU from its own admission-requirements page (smu-aps-resolved-2026-10-03), and MUT and UMP from their own documents. They are calculated but not all are fully verified; rows that still rest on a partial source are flagged on the programme itself. The only scoring system we do not calculate is the Wits Health Sciences Composite Index (wits-health-cutoffs).

navyblue.co.za used as a lead-finding tool across WSU, UL, UFH, UJ

The user pointed at navyblue.co.za (a third-party APS-calculator site) as a map to find official pages we might be missing, not as a data source - every figure added or changed below was independently confirmed on the university's own site before use. WSU: navyblue listed 8 Natural Sciences BSc streams (Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Environmental Studies - Computer Science and Applied Statistical Sciences were not independently chased) that WSU's own live department pages confirm with real subject-level minimums; most of those pages state only a 3-4-subject sub-score ("X points for these subjects"), not WSU's full 6-subject APS, so min_aps is left null on those rather than borrowing navyblue's unconfirmed overall figures - added as 6 new rows. UL: re-investigating BCom Business Management (already flagged as a genuine dead-end in ul-pass-2) found UL's own Department of Business Management page states plainly "Total Minimum APS 20, English D, Mathematics D" - a cleaner, more direct source than the ambiguous multi-column prospectus table ul-pass-2 gave up on; corrected from APS 26 to APS 20. UFH: navyblue's figures for 9 already-existing UFH Management/Commerce and Agriculture rows (all previously min_aps: null) were cross-checked by independently applying UFH's own just-confirmed APS formula (see univen-ufh-spu-aps-computable-2026-10-03) to each programme's own already-published subject minimums - every computed total matched navyblue exactly, so all 9 gained real APS numbers without relying on navyblue's numbers directly. UJ: navyblue surfaced Optometry and two BEngTech streams (Electrical, Mechanical) UJ has departments for but hadn't had programme rows added - confirmed via WebSearch quoting uj.ac.za's own page text directly (uj.ac.za blocks this tool's raw WebFetch, but search-result synthesis still surfaces the live page's own wording) - added as 3 new rows. One duplicate caught and removed in the process: UJ's existing uj-beng-mechanical (already fully confirmed via the 2027 Prospectus in uj-full-prospectus-2026-10-02) was nearly re-added as a near-identical row before the seed-validation step caught the id collision.

General

navyblue checked against UWC, Rhodes, CPUT - one new UWC row added, the other two found to already be well covered

Continuing the navyblue.co.za lead-finding sweep. UWC: already had 17 solid rows including Pharmacy, Dental Surgery, Nursing and several BSc streams - navyblue additionally listed Physiotherapy, Dietetics and Nutrition, Occupational Therapy, Sport and Exercise Science, Oral Health, Applied Geology, Biotechnology, Mathematical & Statistical Sciences and Medical Bioscience as not yet captured. Physiotherapy (APS 39) was independently confirmed via WebSearch quoting UWC's own programme page and added; Dietetics, OT, Sport and Exercise Science, Oral Health, Applied Geology, Biotechnology, Mathematical & Statistical Sciences and Medical Bioscience were identified but not individually verified/added this pass - time-boxed in favour of breadth across more universities, each has an existing matching career_id (dietitian, occupational-therapist, sport-scientist, oral-hygienist, geologist, biologist, mathematician, biologist respectively) and is a reasonable next target. Rhodes: navyblue's figures (e.g. Pharmacy APS 40, BSc Information Systems APS 40) turned out to NOT be gaps at all - Rhodes already has both of these captured (ru-bpharm at APS 45, ru-bsc-info-systems at APS 45) along with 14 other rows spanning Commerce, Science, Education, Humanities and Journalism; the APS mismatch (40 vs 45) is most likely navyblue using a different rounding/reading of Rhodes' own percent-divided-by-10 scale rather than a real factual conflict, not chased further since Rhodes was already the best-covered of the "thin" universities on this list. CPUT: navyblue listed BEngTech Chemical/Civil/Computer/Electrical (APS 36), Diploma in Mechanical/Civil Engineering (APS 30), Diploma in Applications Development/Communication Networks (APS 28), Diploma in Accountancy (APS 38), Diploma in Hospitality/Tourism/Events Management (APS 28-30) - CPUT_APS already has 3 computable methods (percent-sum/10 based) so these navyblue figures would need translating into that scale and checking against CPUT's own 2027 prospectus (an Issuu flipbook, already on record as hard to re-read - see cput-pass-2) before adding; not attempted this pass, logged as the clearest remaining CPUT opportunity. Universities not yet checked against navyblue at all: Univen, UniZulu, SPU (beyond the UMP/SMU-adjacent check already done), CUT, DUT, TUT, VUT, MUT, NMU, SMU, SU, UCT, Wits, UP, UKZN - the last five are already fully raw-confirmed from stronger primary sources and are low priority for a navyblue cross-check.

General

UMP_APS resolved via a navyblue.co.za lead; SMU Table 2 obtained but still not computable

The user pointed at navyblue.co.za (a third-party APS-calculator site) as a source of leads to chase down against each university's own official pages - not as a data source itself. UMP: navyblue's UMP page claimed "all 7 prescribed subjects, not the usual best 6, Life Orientation halved" - a web search of ump.ac.za's own pages turned up the same claim in quoted snippets, then fetching UMP's own "Undergraduate Programmes" PDF directly (pdftotext on the binary WebFetch saved locally) confirmed it word-for-word: six academic subjects (four the programme requires + best three electives) plus Life Orientation at half its standard NSC level. UMP_APS is now computable (see univen-ufh-spu-aps-computable-2026-10-03 for the sibling resolutions). SMU: navyblue's SMU page claimed a generic "best 7 including LO, standard scale" formula, which conflicts with what we already had on record (SMU Medicine/Dentistry use a distinct "Table 2" conversion, not the standard scale) - fetching SMU's own Medicine admission-requirements page directly resolved which is right: Table 2 itself (80-100%=12 points down to below-30%=6 points) is now fully captured, but a new problem surfaced in the process - MBChB's own page states five named subjects (English/Mathematics/Physical Science/Life Sciences at 6 points minimum each, Life Orientation at 5) are meant to sum to a 38-point APS minimum, but 6+6+6+6+5 only totals 29. More subjects are evidently counted than these five, in a combination the page doesn't spell out. SMU_APS stays non-computable rather than risk a confidently wrong number for SMU's flagship programme - this reconciliation (how many total subjects, and which) is the next step. Wits Composite Index was also checked against navyblue and confirmed as a genuine non-disclosure (navyblue itself has no formula for it either, same conclusion we'd already reached) - nothing more to find there.

General

WSU_APS, CPUT_APS, CUT_APS, NMU_AS scoring systems

RESOLVED (to "computable", not to "fully verified"): WSU_APS, CPUT_APS (all three methods), CUT_APS and NMU_AS now compute a real score in src/scoring.js, using only the rules already confirmed and cited in scoring-audit.js from earlier passes - no new primary-source fetching was done or needed for this. Checked against every programme’s own published min_aps at its stated subject thresholds (see scripts/test-scoring.mjs and the sanity checks run this pass): CPUT Method 1 (Nursing) and Method 2 (the three Engineering diplomas) land exactly on their published APS; NMU’s Bachelor of Information Technology lands within a few points of its published AS. Two remaining soft spots, both already named in scoring-audit.js: CUT’s rule is silent on whether a FAILED (not just low) Life Orientation mark still earns 1 point - we award 1 whenever LO is entered; and CPUT Method 3 (doubling Mathematics and Accounting, for some Commerce programmes) has no captured CPUT programme to check it against yet, since CPUT’s own Accounting/IT/Hospitality pages are still unconfirmed (see cput-pass-2 above). WSU’s "two language slots" are implemented as the student’s best two languages, which is our reading of WSU’s brochure, not a quoted mechanism. MUT_APS, UNIVEN_APS, UFH_APS, SPU_APS, UMP_APS and SMU_APS remain non-computable for the reasons already on record (a real conflict between MUT’s own pages, an unconfirmed points scale, or no published cut-off at all) - this pass did not have network access to the blocked university domains needed to resolve those.

Rhodes

8 more programmes: BA/BFA Fine Art, Bachelor of Economics, BA (Journalism & Media Studies), and BSc Chemistry/Geology/Environmental Science/Physics/Statistics

Unlike ru-bpharm/ru-llb/ru-bcom/etc. above (raw-read from the 2027 RU_READY prospectus PDF), every row in this pass came from a web search surfacing Rhodes’ own admission-gateway, department and faculty pages - a lower confidence tier, so each is flagged [partially-verified] rather than given the prospectus rows’ implicit confidence; re-read against the prospectus PDF when possible. Confirmed structurally interesting finding: Rhodes admits students to a faculty/degree (BSc, BA, BCom, etc.) first and lets them choose a major afterwards, so most Science majors (Chemistry, Geology, Environmental Science, Physics, Statistics, also Ichthyology and Human Kinetics & Ergonomics, not added as their own rows) have no major-specific published APS or subject figure of their own - the five BSc-major rows added here intentionally share the general Faculty of Science figure, which is stated plainly in each one’s notes. Confirmed Rhodes has no undergraduate entry point for the Bachelor of Journalism (BJourn) itself - it is a 4th-year, postgraduate-level qualification open only to continuing Rhodes BA (Journalism & Media Studies) graduates, so we show the BA pathway instead and say so. Also confirmed (not added as a row, since there is nothing to show beyond what BEd Foundation Phase above already covers): Rhodes offers no undergraduate BEd for Intermediate or Senior Phase, only a postgraduate PGCE.

UFS

15 more programmes across Law, Health Sciences, Humanities (incl. Music and Social Work), Education, Economic & Management Sciences and Natural & Agricultural Sciences

RESOLVES most of ufs-remainder above (UFS now has 16 programmes, not 1) - but every new row is [partially-verified]: all were found via web search surfacing UFS’s own rule books, selection policies and department pages, not a raw fetch (blocked in this environment). Several of the underlying documents are explicitly dated 2021-2023, not confirmed-current for 2027, and are additionally flagged [dated-document]. A second, more selective Bachelor of Accounting (BAcc, CA-track, Mathematics level 5) exists alongside the BCom (Accounting) shown here, but no AP figure for BAcc itself was found, so it is not shown as its own row. Confirmed (refining the general closing-date note already on ufs-remainder): Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy close 31 May, Dietetics and Social Work close 31 July. "Language of instruction" fields throughout mean UFS’s English/Afrikaans bilingual medium, not English specifically, and are shown via manual() rather than engLvl/engPct for that reason. FOLLOW-UP 2026-10-01: Bachelor of Social Work was reconfirmed, this time by a direct fetch of UFS’s own admissions page rather than search-synthesis - it genuinely has no numeric AP cut-off (35+ is "more likely to be selected", and only the top 50 candidates are chosen), so this is a confirmed non-disclosure, not an open research gap; still shown with min_aps: null and flagged [no-cutoff-published]. Occupational Therapy’s Mathematics/Physical Science minimums (level 4 / 50% each) were found via web search surfacing the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences’ own 2025 rule book and added to the programme - previously only its language requirement was known.

General

UCT Law/Science/Humanities FPS; UJ health absence; UFS OT subject minimums and Social Work reconfirmation; Wits and UKZN 2027 spot-checks

Summary: added UCT’s first-ever Law (LLB) programme row (FPS Band A/B/C 500/485/470) and filled UCT Science (660/640/550, applied to BSc Computer Science) and all four UCT Humanities rows (450/450/380) with FPS figures - all via web search since this pass’s fetch tool could not parse UCT’s PDFs. Confirmed UJ’s Faculty of Health Sciences has no MBChB, Pharmacy or Physiotherapy department. Added UFS Occupational Therapy’s Mathematics/Physical Science minimums (level 4 each) and reconfirmed Social Work’s AP non-disclosure by direct fetch. Spot-checked Wits (Civil/Chemical/Electrical Engineering, BCom General, BSc Computer Science, MBBCh, LLB) and UKZN (MBChB, LLB, BCom Accounting, BSc Computer Science & IT) against live pages: most were confirmed unchanged and several moved from [dated-document] to a current citation, but two genuine conflicts surfaced - Wits LLB’s Mathematics level (schools-liaison guide says 4, the 2027 course-finder says 5) and UKZN Computer Science & IT’s English/Life Orientation levels (2026 brochure says 4, the School of Computer Science’s own page says 5) - both shown via flag('conflict', ...) rather than silently picked. The dataset’s total conflict-flagged row count rose from 5 to 7; scripts/test-sql.mjs’s flagCounts.conflict assertion was updated to match.

General

All 10 major universities - degrees whose name suggests a different career than their assigned career_id

Manually reviewed all 259 programme rows across UCT, Wits, SU, UP, UKZN, UJ, UWC, Rhodes, NWU and UFS for cases where a degree's own name points at a career it isn't currently mapped to (the trigger example: UP's "BEng Computer Engineering" already correctly maps to software-engineer - confirmed, not a bug). Three genuine mismatches found and fixed, each verified against the university's own page before changing: (1) Stellenbosch's "BCom Financial Accounting" was mapped to financial-manager, but SU's own programme page states it "prepares students for a career as a Chartered Certified Accountant" via ACCA exemptions - re-pointed to chartered-accountant and renamed to "BCom Financial Accounting (ACCA)" with a note distinguishing it from the BAcc's SAICA/CA(SA) route. (2) Wits's "BSc Chemistry with Chemical Engineering" stays mapped to chemist (it is a 3-year BSc, not the 4-year ECSA-accredited BSc(Eng)), but Wits's own course-finder page confirms graduates can continue into the BScEng Chemical Engineering with two more years - added a note surfacing this real articulation route rather than silently ignoring it. (3) Wits's "BCom General / Information Systems / PPE" bundled an Information Systems specialisation under business-manager even though Wits publishes a dedicated course-finder page and programme code (CBA10) for it with identical APS/subjects - split out a new `wits-bcom-information-systems` row pointing at the already-existing `information-systems` career, matching how UP/UWC/UJ/RU already handle their equivalent Information Systems degrees, and renamed the remaining general row to make clear it excludes what is now listed separately. Everything else reviewed (engineering disciplines, health sciences, BA/BSocSc major variants, BCom specialisations, LLB/BEd/BSc families) matched their career_id correctly on inspection; a few generic "all disciplines"/access-programme rows (e.g. NWU's "BEng (all disciplines)", UP's "BEng 5-year programme") are deliberately parked under civil-engineer as the most common entry point, which is a pre-existing, reasonable convention rather than a new finding.

UJ, UL, Univen, UniZulu, Unisa - zero entries in db/data/dates.mjs

RESOLVED 2026-10-02 for 3 of 5. UJ: 31 October 2026 at 12:00 (applications open 1 April, no late applications) - found via web search surfacing UJ's own FAQ page (uj.ac.za is blocked for a raw fetch in this environment), flagged `reported`. UL: confirmed by a direct fetch of UL's own "2027 Application Now Open" page - 30 September 2026 for all other qualifications, 30 July 2026 for MBChB and international students - flagged `verified`. Unisa: already-confirmed data promoted from programs-other.mjs's UNISA_CAVEAT (17 August - 9 October 2026, directly fetched from Unisa's own pages earlier this session) - flagged `verified`. Univen and UniZulu remain genuinely unconfirmed, not just unresearched: both domains fail TLS certificate verification for a raw fetch in this environment (same issue logged elsewhere for these two), and every web search for their 2027 closing date surfaced only third-party aggregator sites (studentroom.co.za, coursematch.co.za, etc.) with zero univen.ac.za or unizulu.ac.za source among the results - citing an aggregator would break this file's "no official source, no entry" rule, so neither was added. Try again if either domain's TLS certificate issue resolves, or if a 2027-dated official PDF surfaces (Univen's own 2027 prospectus, already used for programme data, only gave the 1 May opening date, not a closing one).

UKZN

User-supplied Undergraduate Degree Requirements Guide - cross-check against every captured programme

RESOLVED most of ukzn-2027-table and ukzn-engineering-bcom-2026-10-02 at once: the user supplied UKZN’s own "Undergraduate Degree Requirements Guide" PDF (filename suggests a 2025 edition, but content matches or supersedes the 2026 Study@UKZN brochure already on file), covering all four colleges - Health Sciences, Law & Management Studies, Humanities, Agriculture/Engineering/Science - in one document with CAO codes. Cross-referenced against every UKZN row in programs-ukzn.mjs. Three real corrections found: the Engineering Access Programme is 5 years, not the 3 previously shown; Bachelor of Optometry was missing English and Life Orientation level 4 entirely and wrongly required both Life Sciences AND Physical Sciences rather than either one; BSc Computer Science & IT’s English/Life Orientation conflict (see earlier log entry) now has a third source favouring level 4 over level 5, 2-1, so the shown figure flipped back. Added Foundation Phase subject detail to the previously vague BEd row. All other cross-checked figures (MBChB, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, LLB, BCom Accounting, BCom General, BA/BSocSc General) matched exactly, confirming them a second time. Not yet added: Architectural Studies and eight Health Sciences programmes (Audiology, Speech-Language Therapy, Dental Therapy, Dietetics & Human Nutrition, Medical Science: Anatomy, Medical Science: Physiology, Occupational Therapy, Oral Hygiene, Sport Science) that this document fully details but which have no row in programs-ukzn.mjs yet - a good next pass, with the source material already in hand.

UKZN

Engineering disciplines beyond Agricultural - second confirmation

Chemical Engineering’s own live page (engineering.ukzn.ac.za/disciplines/chemical-engineering/) independently confirms the shared formula (APS 33-48, Maths/Physical Science Level 5/65%, English/Life Orientation Level 4/50%) - a second discipline confirming it, after Agricultural. Also checked and still unconfirmed on their own pages: Civil ("currently being uploaded"), Mechanical (no numeric detail, only general guidance), and the combined Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering hub page (confirms these are three genuinely separate degrees, as already modelled, but states no admission figures for any of them). None contradict the shared formula. The user tried applications.ukzn.ac.za first but it was inaccessible, then found gostudy.net (a third-party aggregator, not UKZN’s own site, and showing the wrong programmes) - not used as a source per this file’s no-official-source-no-entry rule.

UKZN

ukzn-2027-table: the Engineering and BCom General rows named as "not re-checked" in that entry

RESOLVED to a live spot-check (still not 2027-dated - see caveat below). BCom General: confirmed unchanged by a direct fetch of its own live page, clms.ukzn.ac.za/bachelor-of-commerce-general-bcom/ (30 NSC points excluding Life Orientation, Mathematics/English/Life Orientation all level 4) - this is now cited to that page instead of the 2026 brochure, though the page itself carries no visible year label either, so [dated-document] still applies in spirit even though the citation changed. Engineering: Agricultural Engineering’s own live discipline page (engineering.ukzn.ac.za/discipline/agricultural-engineering/) confirmed the shared formula (APS 33-48, Mathematics and Physical Science level 5/65%, English and Life Orientation level 4/50%) unchanged from the brochure - but Civil Engineering’s own equivalent page states its admission-requirements section is "currently being uploaded", so the other six engineering disciplines (Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical) and Land Surveying still rest on the brochure/faculty-wide convention rather than each having its own confirmed page. Also newly found and not yet added: a CASSE alternative-access programme for Engineering, APS 26-48, NSC Maths/English/Life Orientation/Physical Science all level 4 - distinct from the existing `ukzn-eng-access` row, which has no APS and may be describing the same or a different programme; worth reconciling the two in a future pass rather than guessed at here.

UWC

User-supplied 2027 General Admissions Criteria brochure

The user found uwc.ac.za’s own 2027 General Admissions Criteria brochure (SEMU-8-Panel-Print-Admissions-2027.pdf) via a third-party prospectus aggregator (universityqualifications.co.za) - the aggregator itself was not used as a source, only as a pointer to go find UWC’s own document directly. This is a recruitment poster/infographic, not a full per-programme APS table like UCT’s prospectus, so most of UWC’s 17 rows couldn’t be cross-checked against it. What it did resolve: Bachelor of Nursing’s APS/subject conflict (see uwc-points-table) - this is a third independent UWC source and it confirms the lower figure already shown (30 points, English 4/5, Maths 3 or Maths Lit 4, another language 4), not the higher one. It also independently confirms "Maths Code 4" for BSc Mathematics & Statistical Sciences, resolving the doubt raised in uwc-pass-2 (where a found figure of "Mathematics level 3" looked implausibly low for a Maths major and was deliberately left out) - level 4 is correct, but no APS/points figure or other subject requirements were found for this programme in this pass, so it still isn’t added as its own row. Two more programmes with partial figures spotted but not added for the same reason (no APS number): Bachelor of Science in Dietetics (Physical Sciences AND Life Sciences both level 4) and Bachelor of Library and Information Studies (Maths level 4 and Accounting level 5, unless Maths is level 5).

UP

User-supplied Health Sciences 2027 Faculty Yearbook - cross-check and expansion

RESOLVED for everything the Yearbook's admission tables actually covered: MBChB, Radiography, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Dietetics and Oral Hygiene all matched the existing APS/subject figures exactly - every one of them just had duration_years sitting at null, now filled in (6, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4 and 3 years respectively). Corrected up-bds's name from "BDS" to UP's actual degree name, BChD (Bachelor of Dental Surgery), and confirmed its 5-year duration - but BChD's own admission-requirements table was not present anywhere in this yearbook extract (it jumps from programme information straight to additional requirements), so its APS/subject figures remain unconfirmed by this pass, left as-is rather than guessed at; still open if a future pass finds that table elsewhere. Added 2 new rows with an existing career fit: Bachelor of Clinical Medical Practice (BCMP, mapped to Clinical Associate) and Bachelor of Sports Science (BSportSci, mapped to Sport Scientist, a pathway into BScHons Biokinetics/Sport Science).

DUT

DUT: 36 new programmes, 10 existing rows raw-confirmed or corrected, 1 outdated row removed, 3 dates added

The 2027 Study Opportunities PDF dut-pass-1 cited has an "Entry Requirements" table on every qualification page (76 qualifications; we held 19). Read table-by-table with pdfplumber, 36 new rows were added with an existing career fit (ICT, accounting, built environment, engineering technology, arts and design, health, management sciences). The same PDF gave the first stated durations for 13 of them. Corrections: Diploma in Accounting needs Mathematics 3, Mathematical Literacy 5 or Accounting 4 (we had Mathematics 4 or Accounting 4); the BEngTech rows now accept Technical Mathematics 5 / Technical Sciences 5; the old "National Diploma: Chiropractic (Foundation Programme)" row was replaced by the Bachelor of Health Sciences in Chiropractic the 2027 prospectus actually lists; the old Diploma in Journalism row (from a web-search pass) was removed because the 2027 prospectus lists only a Bachelor of Journalism. Dates added: Clinical Technology closes 15 August, Diagnostic Sonography 31 August, and the CAO fee rises from R250 to R470 after 31 October 2026. SKIPPED ON PURPOSE: entry_requirements.pdf in the same folder was created in 2013 (its Mathematical Literacy levels differ from 2027) and Student_Course_Brochure.pdf is the 2026-intake guide - neither was used as a current source. Not added (no career fit on Studypath): Library & Information Studies, Textile Science, Clothing Management, Nautical Studies, Homoeopathy, Medical Laboratory Science, Somatology, Pulp & Paper, Clinical Technology, Orthotics & Prosthetics and the Higher Certificates. The Diagnostic Radiography and Nursing admission tables did not extract and were not re-checked.

TUT

TUT: 46 new programmes, 21 existing rows raw-confirmed, 1 conflict surfaced, 2027 changes captured, 3 closing-date entries added

The user-supplied TUT 2026 faculty prospectuses state a minimum APS for every qualification and, in places, a separate "As from 2027" figure. 21 existing rows (mostly [partially-verified]) were raw-confirmed. 46 rows were added with an existing career fit. 2027 changes now shown: BEngTech Civil rises from APS 28 to 30; Biotechnology and Food Technology from 21 to 24; Animal Sciences and Equine Science drop the Mathematical Literacy route and add Physical Science level 3; the Language Practice diploma needs the second language at level 5; BArch adds a Mathematics requirement. CONFLICT: Diploma in Hospitality Management is APS 24 in the First-Year Course Information PDF but APS 20 in the Management Sciences prospectus - shown with both. The per-programme closing dates (15 June, 31 July or 30 September) come from the First-Year PDF table and are on each new row and as three date entries. Not read: Computer Systems Engineering extended streams, Polymer/Materials/Metallurgical BEngTech and the Honours programmes (no career fit); the Senior Phase/FET BEd specialisations (APS 24 for most, 28 for some - shown as no single figure).

MUT

MUT: First-Year Prospectus 2026 qualification tables read - 6 new rows, 4 existing rows corrected

The MUT First-Year Prospectus 2026 states subject levels per qualification. Corrected from the older faculty handbooks: Diploma in Accounting and Local Government Finance need Mathematical Literacy 6 (not 5) and Accounting takes English Home Language 4 / First Additional 5; Crop Production reads as Mathematics 5 or Physical Sciences 3, and Agricultural Sciences 4 or Life Sciences 3; Nature Conservation takes English 5, Agricultural or Life Sciences 5, Mathematics 3 (its APS 28 still comes only from the handbook). Added Chemical Engineering, Surveying, Building, Cost and Management Accounting, Finance and Accounting (Public) and Office Management. The 2019/20 Undergraduate Prospectus in the folder is too old to be a source. No closing dates are published in these documents.

UFH

UFH: Science & Agriculture and Management & Commerce tables found (pass 2 recorded them as absent) - 4 new rows, LLB and Horticulture corrected

ufh-pass-2 concluded that the Management & Commerce and Science & Agriculture prospectuses had no admission table; both do (APS 28 main stream / 27 extended for most BSc Agriculture streams and for BCom). LLB is resolved: English 4, any other Home Language 4, Mathematics 3 or Mathematical Literacy / Technical Mathematics 4, four more subjects at level 4, Life Orientation 5 (we had 4), APS 30. Horticulture is APS 28 (27 was the extended figure). Added Soil Science, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension and BCom Economics. Still open: BCom Industrial Psychology and the remaining BSc streams.

General

Sweep of C:UsersBashDownloadsUni (100 PDFs across 12 universities): what was used, what was set aside and why

USED: DUT, TUT, NWU (Natural & Agricultural Sciences, Health Sciences), WSU, NMU, MUT, UL, UFH, UFS (open days). NOT USED BECAUSE TOO OLD: DUT entry_requirements.pdf (2013), UL-Academic-Programme.pdf (2015), MUT Undergraduate-Prospectus.pdf (2019/20), VUT 2025 General Prospectus (created 2023), the WSU 2024 faculty prospectuses and 2025 General Prospectus, NMU 05-UADS_application_form (2019) and Four-steps-to-apply (2021). NOT USED BECAUSE THEY ARE FOR 2026 STUDY: UCT 2026 Fees Booklet (payment dates 6 February and 31 July 2026; sibling-rebate closing 30 April) and UCT Bursary and Loan Booklet (about 100 outside-organisation awards with 2025 closing dates) - Studypath only lists bursaries with a current closing date from the provider, so none were added; re-read the 2027 editions when UCT publishes them. UCT and Wits handbooks list no undergraduate closing dates and add no APS beyond what is already raw-confirmed. NWU Humanities, EMS, Engineering, Education, Law and Theology yearbooks were already covered by nwu-pass-3. STILL OPEN: UFS 49 MB prospectus beyond what ufs-pass-3 read (4 rows still partially verified: BA Journalism and the three BSc streams), DUT Radiography and Nursing tables, the remaining TUT Arts and ICT extended streams, CPUT, CUT, UWC, Univen, UNISA, UniZulu, SPU, UMP, SMU, Rhodes and UJ rows (no documents in the folder).

UWC

UWC: 2026 programme rules read for every undergraduate programme with a career fit - 12 new rows, 16 rewritten, only the two Law rows still partial

The UWC website programme pages show curricula but no entry figures; the admission rules sit in each programme’s "Program Overview" PDF (Calendar 2026), which is downloadable from ap.uwc.ac.za with a normal browser user-agent. Read for Natural Sciences, Economic & Management Sciences, Arts & Humanities, Community & Health Sciences, Education and Dentistry. Corrections: Bachelor of Social Work is APS 34 (we had 30); the "4-year SAICA" BCom Accounting row carried the 3-year degree’s requirements - the 4-year extended curriculum is English 3, Mathematics 3, Accounting 4 (not needed with Mathematics 4) and a 3-year BCom Accounting row was added (Accounting level 5 unless Mathematics is 5); the 3-year BSc Computer Science needs Mathematics level 5 (4-year extended: APS 27); most BSc degrees are APS 33 with Mathematics 4 and Physical or Life Sciences 4; the 4-year extended BSc versions are APS 27. Added Biotechnology, Applied Geology, Medical Bioscience, Mathematics & Statistical Sciences, Financial Accounting, Administration, Sport & Exercise Science, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, Oral Health and BA (Law). Still partial: LLB and BCom (Law) - their pages gave no downloadable overview. The 2020 Science Calendar PDF that earlier rows cited was replaced by the 2026 rules (figures unchanged for Physical Science).

Univen

Univen: 2027 Undergraduate Prospectus (April 2026) read in full - 21 new rows, 13 confirmed, Computer Science corrected, closing date added

Univen’s site fails the fetch tool’s certificate check, but the prospectus PDF downloads fine. Its faculty tables give an APS and subject levels for every programme. Corrections: BSc Computer Science is APS 26 with English, Mathematics, Physical Sciences and Life Sciences at level 4 (we had 34 from a department page); BSc Nutrition is APS 34. Added Biokinetics, Sports & Exercise Science, Bachelor of Psychology, Diploma in Nursing, seven more BCom/BAdmin degrees, Criminal Justice, five BSc science combinations, Earth Sciences, Urban Planning and four agriculture/forestry degrees. Two rows (Mining & Environmental Geology, Urban and Regional Planning) are flagged unverified because the table text lists the level-5 subjects in a jumbled order. Applications: free, 1 May to 30 September 2026 (now in dates.mjs; Univen previously had no date entries).

UMP

UMP: all rows re-read against the Undergraduate Programmes PDF; closing date confirmed on the live page

UMP’s faculty pages list programmes but no entry figures; the figures are in the Undergraduate Programmes PDF still linked from the 2027 online-applications page. That file is dated October 2023, so all 17 UMP rows are now flagged dated-document rather than partially verified. Added Diploma in Agriculture (Plant Production, APS 23) and Diploma in ICT (Applications Development, APS 24). The live page confirms 2027 applications open 1 June and close 30 November 2026 (fee R200, SADC R400, other international R550); postgraduate closes 30 January 2027.

SPU

SPU: all rows re-read against the 2026 prospectus; 2027 prospectus is an unreadable online viewer

SPU publishes its 2027 prospectus only as an Adobe online viewer (bit.ly link), which cannot be read here, so the 2026 prospectus PDF was used. All 15 rows match it; two were incomplete and are fixed: Diploma in ICT (APS 25, English 4/5, Mathematics 3 or Mathematical Literacy 5) and Bachelor of Environmental Science (Mathematics, Physical Sciences and Life Sciences at level 4). Flagged dated-document. The how-to-apply page confirms 2027 applications close 31 October 2026.

CPUT

CPUT: all 312 prospectus course pages scraped - 11 rows raw-confirmed, 4 source URLs corrected, 19 new rows, dates added

prospectus.cput.ac.za serves each course as a plain page, so every course was read. Confirmed on the pages: Civil and Electrical diplomas, Computer Engineering diploma (its URL pointed at the ECP code), Mathematical Sciences (fifth subject is Physical Sciences, Geography, Accounting, Business Studies or Economics - Life Sciences was wrong), the agriculture, horticulture, analytical chemistry and landscape architecture diplomas, Consumer Science ECP and BEd Foundation Phase. Corrections: the Mathematical Sciences and Mechanical Engineering URLs used codes that do not exist (D3MATH, D3MCHE - real codes D3MTHS, D3MCNE); the Food Technology ECP code D3FDTX is no longer in the catalogue. Added: Chemical Engineering and Geomatics diplomas (APS 30, Method 2), BEngTech Civil/Chemical/Electrical/Computer and BGeomatics (APS 36, Method 2), Architectural Technology, Interior Design, Biotechnology, Nature Conservation, Environmental Management, Marine Science, Consumer Science (mainstream, APS 28/29), Bachelor of Food Science and Technology, Bachelor of Environmental Health, BHSc Medical Laboratory Science (APS 38+), Diploma in Emergency Care (APS 28) and BEd Intermediate Phase. Still partial: Mechanical Engineering diploma (page states no requirements, figures carried from the sibling engineering diplomas), Nursing and Accountancy (pages defer to image/general rules), the Food Technology ECP row. The business, ICT, hospitality and design diplomas carry no requirements on their pages at all - they point to a "General admission requirements" page that returns 404, so they stay out. Dates: opening 11 May 2026; closing 30 June (health), 31 July (Emergency Medical Care, Somatology), 31 August (Education), 30 September (all other, South African applicants; international 31 August).

UniZulu

UniZulu: every row re-read against the 2026 faculty handbook admission tables; 8 rows added

The three 2026 handbooks (Commerce, Administration & Law; Education; Science, Agriculture & Engineering) were converted to text and every existing row compared against the admission tables: APS, English and Mathematics/Maths Literacy rules all match, so 14 rows are no longer partially verified. Corrected the BSc Applied Mathematics & Computer Science row (the handbook states APS 28, Mathematics 60%, English 50% and Physical Sciences 50% - the earlier web-search figures included an IT alternative and no APS). Added BEng Electrical and Mechanical (APS 30, Mathematics 65%, Physical Sciences 60%), BSc Mathematics, Physics/Chemistry, Life Sciences and Geography/Hydrology majors, and the Sport & Exercise Technology and Hospitality Management diplomas. The handbooks still contain no 2027 intake or closing date, and the official apply page was unreachable (TLS certificate error), so no date was added - third-party sites say 30 September 2026 but that is not an official source.

CUT

CUT: programme pages read for 8 rows, Quantity Surveying flagged as self-contradictory, BEngTech Mechanical added, dates verified

cut.ac.za/programmes/<slug> pages were read directly. Confirmed: BEngTech Civil (32 points, English/Physical Sciences level 4, Mathematics level 5), Electrical diploma (27 points, 50% in each), Mechanical diploma (English level 3 is CUT’s own rule), BEd Foundation Phase, Tourism Management, Medical Laboratory Science and Environmental Health. Quantity Surveying: CUT’s page gives 32 points and level 5 in the paragraph headed for pre-2008 matriculants but only "minimum NQF level 4" for 2008-onwards NSC - the row now shows level 5 and 32 with a conflict flag (previously level 6, which matched neither). Added BEngTech Mechanical (32 points, English 3, Mathematics 5, Physical Sciences 4). The general CUT scale needs at least 27 points. Dates: applications open April 2026 and closed 30 September 2026; free to apply. Still partial: Accountancy, IT, Public and Office Management, Design and Studio Art, Computer Networking, Hospitality Management - their pages give a points figure or selection process but not enough to confirm the row as written.

UJ

UJ: 94 programmes added from the 2027 prospectus tables (FADA, Business, Education, Engineering, Health, Humanities, Law, Science)

uj.ac.za returns 403 to automated fetches, but the user-supplied 2027 Undergraduate Prospectus PDF was rendered to page images and every programme table read: Art, Design & Architecture (pp 32-34), College of Business and Economics (pp 40-45), Education (pp 54-55), Engineering and the Built Environment (pp 60-61), Health Sciences (pp 66-70), Humanities (pp 74-76), Law (p 82) and Science (pp 86-90). Added 94 rows with their programme codes and page numbers, including the Faculty of Science major combinations (Life & Environmental, Mathematical and Physical Sciences) with the Mathematics 5/6 and Physical Science 4/5 rules that depend on which first-year modules are included. Where UJ gives two APS figures (Mathematics versus Mathematical Literacy or Technical Mathematics) the Mathematics figure is stored and the other is in the notes. Not added: the Extended (4-year) degree and diploma versions, Honours/postgraduate qualifications, and the Higher Certificates; the NCV, NASCA and Amended Senior Certificate admission tables.

General

Programme coverage gap-fill: SU, UKZN, UFS, CUT and Rhodes counted against their own documents and extended

After a rough comparison against published totals showed SU, UKZN, UFS, CUT and Rhodes as the thinnest, each was re-read from its own document: SU from the 2027 Undergraduate Prospectus (page images; +33 programmes, 39 to 72), UKZN from the Study@UKZN 2026 brochure tables (+38, 23 to 61), UFS from the 2027 Undergraduate Prospectus faculty tables (+32, 26 to 58), CUT from its programme pages (+15, 16 to 31) and Rhodes from the 2026 Undergraduate Prospectus (+7, 17 to 24). Rows are kept to programmes with a career fit and a stated entry rule. Still not added: extended or augmented versions of most programmes (UJ, SU and CPUT list them separately), CPUT’s business, ICT and design diplomas (their pages state no requirements), CUT diplomas whose page does not say which qualification they are, UFS Qwaqwa compact-learning variants and Building Sciences compact options, and the postgraduate and honours qualifications that appear in the same documents. UKZN figures are 2026 (no 2027 table was published when read), and the brochure leaves some English and Life Sciences levels unprinted - those rows are flagged. The thinnest remaining gaps are likely WSU, NWU, UNISA and TUT, which were not re-counted in this pass.

General

Minimum of 40 programmes per university - what was added and where the documents run out

Target set 2026-10-04: every university should list at least 40 programmes unless its own documents do not contain that many. Now at or above 40: UNISA 120 (every single-entry degree, diploma and higher certificate from its own qualification pages; BA and most BSc major combinations are not listed one by one), VUT, MUT, UL, UFH, UWC, Rhodes, NWU, CUT, Univen, UniZulu and CPUT, plus SU, UKZN, UFS and the earlier large universities. Additions are: extended-curriculum and bridging versions where a university documents them separately, advanced diplomas (with their prior-diploma entry rule), engineering disciplines split out, and further majors where the university’s own table gives them entry rules. Still under 40 because the university’s own documents list fewer: SPU (20; its prospectus lists three higher certificates, three diplomas, three advanced diplomas, the BA, BSc, BCom and BEd degrees - about 22 in all), SMU (20; a health-sciences university with a small catalogue), UMP (19; its programmes PDF lists about 23). Uneven quality worth a re-check: UFH rows carry UFH’s general entry rule and duration only, because its course pages do not state requirements; the NWU engineering rows repeat the faculty-wide minimum; UWC’s community development, sport and theology rows come from a 2026 admissions brochure.

International students applying to South African universities - add a section

TODO, not started (added 2026-10-04). Studypath is written for South African learners; international applicants are only mentioned in passing (a few international closing dates and fees). To add, per university and from its own page: international application closing dates (UFS 31 August, NMU 30 September, UL fee R750 are already in the documents we hold), application fees, how foreign certificates are evaluated (USAf Matriculation Board exemption, SAQA verification, HIGCSE/IGCSE/A-Level/IB conversion tables - TUT and NMU documents already contain these tables), study permits and medical aid requirements, residence and fees for international students, and NSFAS ineligibility. Start from the international-office pages of the 26 universities and the UCT, Wits, NMU and TUT documents already in the Uni folder.

General

Choose-your-subjects page (/grade-10-subjects) and every programme’s subject requirements - re-check and update

TODO, not started (added 2026-10-04). Re-check and update (1) the Grade 10 "choose your subjects" page - its field-by-field subject advice, the Mathematics versus Mathematical Literacy guidance and the "degrees that accept Mathematical Literacy" table, all of which are computed from programme data that has grown to 1,013 programmes - and (2) the subject requirements on the programme rows themselves. For the second part, in particular: every row that still shows a "manual" requirement (free text the calculator cannot check) and see whether it can be turned into a computed level or percentage; rows whose Mathematics or Physical Sciences rule has an "or" alternative that is only in the notes; Mathematical Literacy and Technical Mathematics acceptance, which is stated for some rows and silent for others; the remaining partially-verified rows (UFS 4, DUT 4, TUT 2, UNISA 2, UWC Law 2, MUT 1, UFH 1, plus the 6 CUT and 3 CPUT rows listed in their own entries); and the rows that quote a prospectus older than the 2027 intake (UMP, SPU, UniZulu, Univen dated-document flags). Then confirm the Grade 10 page still agrees with the data after the changes.

International students - what applying costs at each South African university (and abroad)

TODO, not started (added 2026-10-04). Check and record the application fee an international applicant pays at every South African university we cover, from each university’s own page, since many charge a different (higher) fee than the local one and some treat SADC applicants separately (for example UMP lists R200 local, R400 SADC and R550 other international; UL lists R750 for international applicants). Also record whether the fee is refundable, how it is paid, the international closing date where it differs from the local one (UFS 31 August, CPUT 31 August, NMU 30 September are already in hand), and any additional international costs we can confirm, such as the SAQA or Matriculation Board evaluation fee. Show the result on the Dates and Costs pages and as part of the planned international-student section (todo-international-student-info). For the study-abroad guides, the equivalent check is each country’s application fee as well as its visa and health-surcharge costs.

General

Source data store - a plain-text copy of everything we read, used or not, for easy re-checking

TODO (added 2026-10-04). The folder db/source-data/ now exists with a README describing the record format, and is empty on purpose. Still to do: fill it for every university from the documents and pages already read (programme tables, entry bands, dates, fees, contacts, and the figures read but not currently used on the site), one JSONL file per university plus topic files such as bursaries; add a small script that checks each record has a source and a checked date and that every used_by id exists in the programme or date data; and decide how updates flow (re-read a source, update its records, then update the programme rows that cite them). Keep text only: no PDFs or images in the repository.

UCT

BSc Computer Science

Maths at 70% or above was confirmed from the UCT Computer Science department page. The full APS and the other subject requirements were later read straight from UCT’s 2027 prospectus (see uct-raw-pdf-read-2026-10-02), so nothing is left open here.

UCT

Law (LLB) - FPS cut-offs

RESOLVED 2026-10-01 (search-synthesis, not a raw PDF read): a targeted re-fetch of the 2027 prospectus PDF and of the Law Faculty’s own "Choose Law 2026" PDF both returned undecoded binary/stream content to this pass’s fetch tool (not just a size cut-off this time - the tool could not parse either PDF at all), so a web search surfacing UCT Law’s own published admission guidelines was used instead. Two independent searches agree: Band A (guaranteed) FPS 500, Band B (WPS, likely) 485, Band C (redress) 470. We now show a uct-llb programme row with these figures in db/data/programs-uct.mjs (there was previously no UCT Law row in the file at all, despite this log entry’s name - a gap in the earlier pass, not just a missing number). NBTs remain compulsory (Band A needs AL Proficient, QL Intermediate); international applicants write the AL test. Re-check against a raw page read when this environment’s fetch tool can parse UCT’s PDFs.

UCT

Science - programme FPS cut-offs

PARTIALLY RESOLVED 2026-10-01 (search-synthesis, not a raw PDF read - the Science Faculty’s admissions-criteria PDF also returned undecoded binary content to the fetch tool). Found the faculty-wide bands via web search, consistent across three independent searches: Band A (guaranteed) FPS 660 with Mathematics >=70% and Physical Science >=60%, Band B (WPS, likely) 640, Band C (redress) 550. These are faculty-wide, not shown to differ by major in anything we could find - applied to the existing uct-bsc-compsci row (now min_aps 660). What remains unconfirmed: whether individual Science majors beyond Computer Science (and whether Physical Science is required for majors like Computer Science specifically, versus only mattering for the Band A/B calculation) have their own distinct FPS thresholds - the source document is also not confirmed as the 2027-specific version (the clearest hits were a 2025 Science UG Admissions Criteria document). Re-check against a raw 2027 page read when possible.

UCT

Humanities - numeric FPS cut-off

RESOLVED 2026-10-01 (search-synthesis, not a raw PDF read - same PDF-parsing failure as uct-law-fps/uct-science-fps). Two independent web searches agree: Band A (guaranteed) FPS 450, Band B (WPS, likely) also effectively 450 (reached via the disadvantage-weighted WPS rather than raw FPS), Band C (redress) FPS 380. Applied to all four Humanities rows (BA/BSocSc general, both Psychology-major rows, and the Journalism-major row), which previously showed min_aps: null. Subject requirements were already captured and remain unchanged (English HL 50% or FAL 60%, Life Orientation 50%, NBT AL above Basic/Lower Intermediate, Economics major Maths 60%, Psychology major Maths 50% or Proficient NBT QL). Re-check against a raw page read when possible.

UCT

Programmes UCT does not offer

The 2027 prospectus lists no undergraduate Pharmacy, Dentistry or Nursing, and no undergraduate BEd - UCT offers only a postgraduate PGCE.

UCT

UCT APS rule source is a 2025 document

SUPERSEDED 2026-10-02 (see uct-raw-pdf-read-2026-10-02): UCT’s APS/FPS rule was originally read from the 2025 Guidelines for Admission, assuming the rule was unchanged in the 2027 prospectus. A raw pdftotext read of the actual 2027 prospectus PDF has since confirmed the rule directly, including the Science (FPS/800) and Health Sciences (FPS/900) mechanics - Health Sciences still can’t be calculated since it needs the student’s NBT result, not because the rule is unconfirmed.

Wits

Wits APS table

Wits’s entry-requirements page was read in full on 2026-10-01: best seven subjects including Life Orientation, faculty-specific subjects must be included, 90-100% = 8 down to 40-49% = 3 and nothing below 40%, English and Mathematics +2 from 60%, Life Orientation 4/3/2/1. Two corrections to our first version: results below 40% score zero, and required subjects are forced into the seven.

UJ

UJ APS rule

SUPERSEDED 2026-10-02 (see uj-full-prospectus-2026-10-02): UJ’s rule (six subjects on the 1-7 scale excluding Life Orientation, compulsory subjects counted first) was originally seen only as excerpts of UJ’s own documents. The user-supplied 2027 Undergraduate Prospectus PDF confirms it directly (p.16): APS is the sum of the achievement ratings of six subjects, Life Orientation excluded.

UP

UP APS rule

Read from a UP Faculty of Humanities undergraduate admission document: six 20-credit recognised subjects on the 1-7 scale, Life Orientation excluded, maximum 42. UP’s website blocked automated access, so this is one faculty’s document; other faculties may select on more than the APS.

Wits

All rows sourced from the schools-liaison guide

The Wits schools-liaison Grade 12 guide is headed "prospective students for 2026". Every row resting on it alone is flagged in the product as a dated document. Each needs checking against its 2027 course-finder page. SPOT-CHECK 2026-10-01: direct fetches of wits.ac.za succeeded in this pass (unlike most other universities’ domains). Civil, Chemical and Electrical Engineering, BCom (General), BSc Computer Science and MBBCh were each confirmed unchanged against their live 2027 course-finder pages and moved off the dated guide. LLB (4-year, LFA14) was also re-checked: APS is unchanged at 46+, but the course-finder states Mathematics Level 5 where the schools-liaison guide says Level 4 - a genuine conflict, now shown via flag('conflict', ...) rather than silently resolved (see db/data/programs-wits.mjs). BCom with Law was spot-checked by search only (no working course-finder URL found) and is unchanged. Metallurgy, Aeronautical, Industrial and Mining Engineering, and most Commerce/Humanities/Science rows beyond those listed, were not re-checked this pass and remain on the dated guide. UPDATE 2026-10-04: every existing Wits row has since been re-checked against its live 2027 course-finder page and matched (see wits-recheck-2026-10-04 and wits-pass-3-2026-10-04), so none still rests on the dated guide alone.

Wits

Bachelor of Architectural Studies - APS

CORRECTED 2026-10-02 (see wits-raw-read-sweep-2026-10-02): an earlier web-search-only pass concluded 34 was the standard threshold with 29-33 as a discretionary band, reconciling the schools-liaison guide (34) and the BAS application FAQ (29). A raw, verbatim-quoted fetch of the live course-finder page (read twice) shows that was wrong - the minimum is a Wits APS of 29, full stop, with no 34 figure or discretionary band anywhere on the page. We now show 29.

Wits

BSc Mathematical Sciences - APS

RESOLVED 2026-10-02 (see wits-maths-sciences-raw-read-2026-10-02): the 2027 course-finder page says APS 44+, the 2026 schools-liaison guide says 42+. A direct fetch of the live course-finder page confirms 44 is correct and current - we show 44, and the conflict with the dated guide is shown on the programme.

UKZN

APS scale - percentage to level conversion

RESOLVED 2026-10-01. UKZN’s points table was read from its 2026 College of Law and Management Studies handbook: 90-100% = 8, 80-89% = 7, 70-79% = 6, 60-69% = 5, 50-59% = 4, 40-49% = 3, 30-39% = 2, 0-29% = 1, over six subjects excluding Life Orientation (maximum 48). The calculator now computes UKZN scores. UKZN programme figures are still from 2026 documents.

UJ

All programmes

SUPERSEDED 2026-10-02 (see uj-full-prospectus-2026-10-02): UJ figures were originally captured from search-engine indexed text of official UJ programme pages, since full-page fetches returned only the navigation menu and the 2027 prospectus PDF was blocked by the fetch tool. The user has since supplied that full prospectus PDF directly, and every UJ row has been cross-checked against it.

UJ

BSc CS & Informatics (AI specialisation); BEd Foundation Phase

RESOLVED 2026-10-02 - both now added and, as of uj-full-prospectus-2026-10-02, confirmed against the actual prospectus PDF (B2I04Q: APS 34, English level 5, Mathematics level 7, 3 years; B5BFPQ: APS 28).

UJ

MBChB, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy

RESOLVED: confirmed absent a second, independent way. The user-supplied 2027 Undergraduate Prospectus PDF's Faculty of Health Sciences section (p.64) lists its programmes as Biokinetics, Diagnostic Radiography, Diagnostic Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy, Chiropractic, Complementary Medicine, Emergency Medical Care, Medical Laboratory Science, Podiatry, Nursing, Optometry, Environmental Health and Sport Science/Sport Management - no MBChB, Pharmacy or Physiotherapy among them, matching the 2026-10-01 web-search finding exactly.

NWU

APS formula

RESOLVED 2026-10-01. NWU’s own APS calculator page shows six subjects on an 8-point scale (90-100% = 8 ... 0-29% = 1) with Life Orientation not counted. The calculator now computes NWU scores. NWU programme coverage is still only two entries.

General

NBT registration, fees, test centres and rewrites

RESOLVED 2026-10-01 (stale entry corrected - registration, test windows and rewrite rules were already live and sourced to the NBT Project FAQ before this pass; this entry had not been updated to say so). The remaining gap, the fee, is now also closed: nbt.ac.za/content/nbt-cost, fetched directly, gives R195 for the AQL alone or R390 for the AQL and MAT together, paid via Lesaka EasyPay (EFT/direct deposit for international and bordering-country applicants without EasyPay), with a paid re-mark and a free make-up test after a hospital or police report. Not confirmed: whether NSFAS-qualifying learners write for free, a claim repeated on secondary sites but not stated on the NBT’s own fee page - the FAQ answer says so rather than guessing.

General

Study abroad - foreign university entry requirements

RESOLVED from "zero verified" (stale entry corrected - the page already carried four directly-read UK examples, Edinburgh x2, Sheffield and Manchester, before this pass found two more). This pass added two Australian universities, each read directly from its own page: UNSW Sydney’s official 2027 undergraduate entry-requirements PDF gives a South African NSC column (best four subjects excluding Life Orientation) with figures from 62% for most Arts/Science degrees up to 79% for Actuarial Studies; the University of Western Australia’s international-qualifications page converts an NSC average (best six subjects excluding Life Orientation, 1-7 scale) to an ATAR equivalent. Still only six examples, not a full list - that is deliberate, per the page’s own wording, so it never goes stale. A University of Queensland NSC-to-selection-rank table was found and read in full but deliberately left out: it is dated "November 2022", four years old, and we had no more-current UQ source to check it against. UPDATE 2026-10-02 (see todo-study-abroad-expansion below): four more examples were added, taking REAL_EXAMPLES to ten and extending coverage to the Netherlands, Ireland, New Zealand and the USA.

VUT

All 13 existing programmes raw-confirmed/corrected, 1 real mislabelling fixed, 3 new rows added - from the user-supplied 2027 Minimum Admission Requirements PDF

RESOLVED 2026-10-03: the user supplied the same "2027 Undergraduate Minimum Admission Requirements" PDF already cited as this file's source_url, letting it be read directly for the first time rather than via web search for 5 of the 13 rows. One real error caught: "Diploma in Analytical Chemistry" had actually been carrying Diploma in Non-Destructive Testing's figures (APS 19, English/Mathematics level 3, Physical Sciences level 4) - two different diplomas conflated in an earlier web-search pass; Analytical Chemistry's real figures are APS 21 with English/Mathematics/Physical Sciences all at level 4. A second correction: Agricultural Management's English level was wrong (3, should be 4). Everything else matched exactly - HRM, Marketing, Logistics and Biotechnology all upgraded from [unverified] to [verified]. Added 3 new rows with an existing career fit: Diploma in Environmental Science (environmental-scientist), Diploma in Retail Business Management (retail-manager) and Diploma in Sport Management (sport-scientist), the last two sharing their admission table with the already-captured Marketing diploma.

SMU

SMU_APS - the "A=12 to F=3" scale and the 29-vs-38 mismatch were both misreads

RESOLVED 2026-10-03: the user supplied SMU Medicine's admission-requirements URL directly. An initial AI-summarised fetch of that page merged columns from Table 2 and reported a non-existent "A = 12 down to F = 3" conversion scale - the same error smu-pass-1 had made. A raw read of the page's HTML tables (curl + direct <table>/<tr>/<td> parsing, bypassing the summarizer) showed Table 2's "NSC marks %" column is just the standard 1-7 NSC achievement-level scale (80-100%=7 down to 0-29%=1); its higher points (8-12) are for other qualifications (A-Level, IB, IGCSE etc.) that have finer-grained top grades than NSC, not an alternate SA scale. The raw read also resolved the apparent 29-vs-38 mismatch flagged in smu-pass-1 and ump-smu-navyblue-lead-2026-10-03 (if present) - it was never a conflict: Table 1 states two different published totals side by side, a 29-point "SMU Admission Score for preselection" using only five named subjects (English 6, Mathematics 6, Physical Science 6, Life Sciences 6, Life Orientation 5), and a 38-point "Minimum APS Points" total that also includes two unnamed "Additional subject" slots (minimums 5 and 4) - 6+6+6+6+5+5+4 = 38 exactly. The same raw-HTML check was repeated on SMU Dentistry's own page (BDS: English 5, Mathematics 6, Physical Science 6, Life Sciences 6, Life Orientation 5, plus additional subjects 5 and 4 = 37, matching its stated total). SMU_APS is now computable as a standard seven-subject NSC-level sum (src/scoring.js), and smu-mbchb/smu-bds in db/data/programs-other.mjs now carry structured lvl() subject requirements instead of the old manual()-text claim about a non-existent points scale. Whether MBChB/BDS/Pharmacy require the NBT remains unconfirmed and is still not stated.

UNIVEN_APS, UFH_APS, SPU_APS - scoring formulas resolved

RESOLVED 2026-10-03: the user supplied screenshots of three universities' own live APS calculators/scoring tables, closing three of the six non-computable systems from the 2026-10-01 decision above. UFH: a screenshot of a worked example run through UFH's own calculator (English HL 65%, Afrikaans FAL 55%, Mathematics 80%, Life Orientation 85%, Physical Science 75%, Life Sciences 80%, Geography 65%) displayed "Total APS: 41" - implementing the formula already on record (seven subjects: Home Language, First Additional Language, Mathematics/Mathematical Literacy, Life Orientation, three electives, each on the standard 1-7 NSC level, summed with no exclusions) reproduces 41 exactly, confirming Life Orientation is NOT halved in practice despite denser prospectus text elsewhere suggesting it might be. Univen: a screenshot of Univen's own scoring-scale table showed the "Score" column is simply percentage/10 (e.g. 85% = 8.5), not a flat per-NSC-level score as every other university uses - resolving the exact ambiguity that had blocked this system since 2026-10-01. SPU: a screenshot of SPU's own APS Calculator table revealed a genuinely distinctive formula - seven subject slots, six scored on the standard 8-point scale, with Mathematics and the Home Language subject each earning a further bonus from their own level (+2 at level 5+, +1 at level 3-4) and Life Orientation scored on its own separate 0-4 scale instead of the main one; no worked total was shown to verify end-to-end, so this one is implemented directly from the table but not independently checked against a real example the way UFH was. All three are now computable in src/scoring.js (non-computable-systems count dropped from 6 to 3, test-scoring.mjs and test-api.mjs updated) - only WITS_COMPOSITE_INDEX, UMP_APS and SMU_APS remain. Also: the user supplied a screenshot of MUT's own admission-requirements page showing the identical NSC-level-to-points matrix already implemented for MUT_APS - a fourth independent MUT source now agrees with the already-correct best-six-subjects formula, no code change needed there.

General

TUT_APS, VUT_APS, DUT_APS, CPUT_APS source comments

The code comments above the TUT, VUT, DUT and CPUT programme blocks in db/data/programs-other.mjs still said their scoring systems were "non-computable for now" after TUT_APS/VUT_APS/DUT_APS had already been implemented in an earlier pass (and after CPUT_APS’s Method 1/2/3 text had already been confirmed in cput-pass-2 above) - a documentation lag, not a data problem. Corrected to match what src/scoring.js actually does; no admission figures changed.

UJ

11 more programmes across Education, Science, Humanities, Economic & Financial Sciences, Art/Design/Architecture and Engineering

SUPERSEDED 2026-10-02 (see uj-full-prospectus-2026-10-02): all 11 rows added this pass (BEd x2, BSc IT, BCom Industrial Psychology, B Architecture, BEngTech Industrial/Mining, BSc Construction, BCom Accounting, Social Work, BSc CS AI) are now confirmed against the actual prospectus PDF. The durations left null here (BSc IT, BCom Industrial Psychology, the two BEngTech programmes, BSc Construction) are now filled in - all are 3 years. The Social Work APS conflict (31 vs 31.5) is resolved in favour of 31.

UFS

All 16 existing programmes raw-confirmed/corrected, 11 new rows added, 1 row removed - from a user-supplied 2027 Undergraduate Prospectus

RESOLVED 2026-10-03: the user supplied UFS’s own 2027 Undergraduate Prospectus (a proper per-faculty admission-table document), finally giving a raw source for everything ufs-pass-2 had only reached via web search. Four real corrections found: LLB’s Mathematics bar was wrong (level 6, should be 4); Physiotherapy’s Mathematics and Physical Sciences were both wrong (level 5, should be 4); Dietetics’ Mathematics was wrong (level 5, should be 4) and its Life/Physical Sciences aren’t an equal either/or (Life Sciences 5, Physical Sciences 4); and Social Work does publish a numeric AP minimum (35) - the prior pass’s "no cutoff published" conclusion, drawn from UFS’s own admissions page describing AP35+ as merely "more likely to be selected" among the top 50 candidates, undersold what the prospectus itself states as the entry threshold; both facts now shown together rather than one replacing the other. One row removed entirely: BPharm - this document names Health Sciences’ five schools (Clinical Medicine, Pathology, Biomedical Sciences, Nursing, Health and Rehabilitation Sciences) with no School of Pharmacy anywhere in its 4,700+ lines, so the existing BPharm row (sourced from a 2023 booklet) looks to have been wrong from the start; UFS appears not to offer an undergraduate Pharmacy degree. Nursing, Occupational Therapy, MBChB, Bachelor of Music and BA General were all raw-confirmed, Nursing and BA General gaining their first-ever precise subject formulas in place of manual() placeholders. Added 11 new rows with an existing career fit: Optometry, Biokinetics, Sport Coaching (Health Sciences); BA Fine Arts, BA Drama and Theatre Arts, BA Journalism (Humanities); BSc Biological Sciences, BSc Mathematical Sciences, BSc Computer Science, Bachelor of Architecture, and a combined Quantity Surveying/Construction Management/Construction Economics row (Natural & Agricultural Sciences - this last one also used to confirm Architecture, QS and Construction Management’s own career pages were already a good fit). Deliberately left out: Bachelor of Medical Science in Radiation Science and Forensic Science (no fitting career_id), the ~30-entry Biological Sciences major-pair table and ~10-entry Computer Science major-pair table (one representative row each, following the same pattern used for UP and Unisa’s BA major-pairs), and the Diplomas/Higher Certificates tier (out of this site’s Bachelor’s-degree scope).

General

FAQ page - expand using each university’s own FAQ page

RESOLVED 2026-10-02: read UCT's own applications/admissions FAQ directly (uct.ac.za, already an existing source), and found/fetched new official pages directly for Wits (wits.ac.za/undergraduate/apply-to-wits/), Stellenbosch (a 2027-intake "How to apply" PDF, blogs.sun.ac.za, extracted with pdftotext after WebFetch could not parse it directly), UKZN (studyatukzn.ukzn.ac.za/faqs/), UWC (uwc.ac.za application-information page) and NWU (two of its own LibAnswers pages, nwu.libanswers.com - NWU's own FAQ system). UP, UJ and UFS pages returned 403/404 to this pass's fetch tool; UJ's own admissions-and-selections policy PDF was used instead via search-synthesis (marked reported, not verified). Added 3 new FAQ entries (`multiple-applications`, `conditional-offer`, `change-programme`, all category `applying`) covering how many programmes you can apply for, what a conditional offer is and what happens if you miss it, and whether/how you can change your programme choice after applying - each cross-references 4-6 universities' actual (sometimes conflicting) rules rather than one. Also expanded the existing `send-results` entry with a new paragraph on certified-document requirements (Wits/UKZN/UWC) rather than creating a duplicate question. Not reached this pass: Rhodes (found only via an ambiguous aggregator-sourced search result for its specific FAQ content, not a clean ru.ac.za URL, so deliberately left out rather than attributed to a source we aren't confident in) and UFS (admissions FAQ not located; ufs.ac.za blocked as in prior passes).

General

FAQ - what BEng, BSc, BCom, BTech, Diploma etc. actually stand for and how they differ

RESOLVED 2026-10-02: added two new `words`-category FAQ entries. `qualification-types` cites the CHE's own 2013 Higher Education Qualifications Sub-Framework (HEQSF) PDF (che.ac.za, downloaded and read in full via pdftotext after WebFetch could not parse it directly) for the NQF level and minimum credits of a Higher Certificate (NQF5, 120 credits), Diploma (NQF6, 240 or 360 credits), Advanced Diploma (NQF7, 120 credits), Bachelor's Degree (NQF7/360 credits "general", or NQF8/480 credits "professional") and Bachelor Honours Degree (NQF8, 120 credits) - and SAQA's own 2012 Level Descriptors PDF (saqa.org.za, same direct-read method) for what distinguishes level 6/7/8 competence. `beng-vs-engtech` cites ECSA's own registration-categories page (ecsa.co.za, fetched directly - the one university-adjacent domain in this pass that was not blocked) for the three professional categories (Pr Eng needs a BEng/BSc(Eng); Pr Tech Eng needs a BEngTech; Pr Techni Eng needs a National Diploma) and what each handles. One gap honestly flagged rather than guessed: no single CHE/SAQA document was found stating BEngTech's own NQF level/credits/duration directly (HEQSF's 2013 edition predates BEngTech - it explicitly names the lack of a universities-of-technology-specific degree variant as then-unresolved) - the NQF7/360-credit/3-year figure used is marked `r()` (reported), sourced to a UJ BEngTech programme page and consistent search results, not to a single authoritative document we read ourselves.

General

careers.mjs - research and add missing careers

DONE 2026-10-02: added three careers, each backed by a real programme already present in the dataset that was pointing at a mismatched existing career_id as a stand-in. `supply-chain-logistics` (Supply Chain & Logistics Manager) now takes TUT’s Diploma in Supply Chain Management and VUT’s Diploma in Logistics, both previously tagged `industrial-engineer` - a 3-year operations diploma is not the same thing as a 4-year ECSA-track engineering degree, so this is a more accurate home for both. `nature-conservation` (Game Ranger / Nature Conservator) now takes TUT’s, MUT’s (both its Diploma and Bachelor of Applied Science) and UMP’s Diplomas/Degree in Nature Conservation, all previously tagged `environmental-scientist` - these are hands-on, field-ranger-track vocational qualifications (one includes a year of work-integrated learning with a conservation body), distinct from the more research/impact-assessment-oriented BSc Environmental Science route that `environmental-scientist` already covers well. `retail-manager` (Retail & Merchandising Manager) now takes Sol Plaatje University’s Diploma in Retail Business Management, previously tagged `business-manager` - specific enough (buying, merchandising, store operations) to be more accurate than the general business career. Investigated and verified as real via web search but NOT added, because no existing programme row in programs-*.mjs matches them and this pass’s edit discipline restricted programs-*.mjs changes to re-pointing existing rows, not adding new ones (so adding them now would have produced new orphan-career warnings): Viticulture & Oenology (Stellenbosch’s real BScAgric in Viticulture and Oenology, 4 years, NSC aggregate ~60%+, Maths 60%, Physical Sciences 50% - but SU’s AgriSciences faculty has no rows at all yet in programs-su.mjs), Biokinetics (a real HPCSA-registrable profession via a BSc Biokinetics + BHSc Honours, offered at UJ/SU/UP/NWU/Wits/UWC - but programs-other.mjs explicitly and deliberately excludes UJ’s Sport & Movement Studies/Biokinetics department as a prior gap, and no other university’s Biokinetics row exists yet), and Information Science/Librarian (a real Bachelor of Information Science at UP, APS 28 - but no programme row for it exists in the dataset). All three are good candidates for a future pass that also adds their source-backed programme rows. Also investigated and explicitly declined as near-duplicates of existing careers: Geomatics/surveying (already fully covered by `land-surveyor`, which already uses UCT’s BSc Geomatics and UKZN’s BSc Land Surveying), Town & Regional Planning (already covered by `urban-planner`, which already uses Wits’s and DUT’s Urban & Regional Planning programmes), Horticulture (CPUT’s and UFH’s Horticulture programmes already sit, reasonably, under `agricultural-scientist` alongside other Univen/UFH agriculture sibling streams - a separate career page would duplicate it), Media/broadcast production and actuarial-adjacent analytics (both already reasonably covered by `journalist-communications` and `data-scientist`/`actuary`/`mathematician` respectively - no distinct SA degree found that these don’t already capture), Translator/Interpreter and Air Traffic Control/Aviation (no standalone undergraduate SA degree found backing either as its own professional career path for school leavers - translation is postgraduate-level in SA, and ATNS air traffic control training is not a university degree).

General

careers.mjs - specializations for careers beyond doctor

DONE 2026-10-02: added `specializations` (plus `specializationPath` and `specializationsNote`) to five more careers, each checked against that profession’s actual regulator, matching doctor’s confidence bar (`specializationsNote` says plainly where this is a general overview rather than a single authoritative source). Dentist: HPCSA’s GN R590/2001 regulates dental specialities/sub-specialities; the six-field list used (Maxillo-Facial and Oral Surgery, Orthodontics, Periodontics and Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Prosthodontics, Community Dentistry) matches the postgraduate MChD fields the University of Pretoria’s dental school actually offers. Pharmacist: the SA Pharmacy Council’s specialist pharmacist register (per SAPC board notices from 2023-2025) has five real categories - Clinical Pharmacist, Public Health Pharmacist, Industrial Pharmacist, Pharmacokineticist, Radiopharmacist - notably NOT "community" and "hospital" pharmacy, which are just common practice settings, not part of this formal register (the original to-do’s assumption here was corrected). Nurse: SANC’s post-basic specialities (Midwifery, Clinical Nursing Science/ICU-trauma, Operating Theatre Nursing, Community Nursing Science, Psychiatric Nursing, Nursing Education, Nursing Administration), flagged as a register that is actively transitioning from legacy certificates to HEQSF-aligned postgraduate diplomas. Lawyer: the attorney/advocate split was already covered by `gate`, so `specializations` here covers only the two real, examined, post-admission endorsements the Legal Practice Council actually runs - Conveyancer and Notary Public - with the note being explicit that a broader LPC specialist-accreditation scheme (beyond these two) could not be confirmed as currently operating. Veterinarian: SAVC’s MMedVet (University of Pretoria, 3+ year residency) or peer-review (7+ years’ experience, Master’s, publications) route to specialist registration is confirmed directly from SAVC’s own site, though this pass could not load a single complete official list of every registered specialist category/name - the list shown (grouped as small animal, large animal/livestock, equine, wildlife/game, diagnostics/pathology, other) is flagged in `specializationsNote` as coming from secondary sources and possibly incomplete. Checked and explicitly declined for Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Optometrist, Audiologist and Speech-Language Therapist: HPCSA registers each under a professional board (e.g. Physiotherapy/Podiatry/Biokinetics; Speech, Language and Hearing) with only Community Service/Independent Practice registration categories - no formal, regulator-defined post-qualification specialist register could be found for any of these five, so (per the brief) no `specializations` array was invented for them; their existing `relatedRoles` already name the informal practice-area variety (e.g. paediatric OT, sports physio). Also left untouched: Clinical/Counselling/Educational Psychology (their distinct registration categories already exist as separate careers, not an over-and-above specialisation within one), and all engineering disciplines (ECSA’s Candidate/Professional Engineer registration is already in each `gate` field and is a licensing status, not a specialisation register).

Bursaries - find and verify more

RESOLVED 2026-10-02 to 15 entries (9 -> 15), each new one verified by a direct fetch of the provider's own page this pass: Funza Lushaka (eservices.gov.za/FunzaLushaka/, plus its National Selection Criteria PDF, pdftotext-extracted) - this closes the "no 2027 date" gap logged in bursaries-none-yet above: new applications close 31 January 2027, directly confirmed; Harmony Gold Bursary Programme (harmony.co.za, closes 9 October 2026 for the 2027 academic year); Implats Bursary Programme (implats.co.za/young-talent.php, eligibility/coverage confirmed but no closing date stated on the page itself, shown as null rather than guessed); Nedbank External Bursary Programme (group.nedbank.co.za, confirmed eligibility/fields, but the page itself says the 2027 cycle is already closed without giving the date it used, so deadline is null); Gauteng City Region Academy/GCRA Bursary (gcrabursary.gauteng.gov.za, confirmed eligibility/coverage, page says "closed" without a stated date, so null); Masakh'iSizwe Bursary Programme (westerncape.gov.za, Western Cape Government, limited to UCT/Stellenbosch/CPUT, states "closes 31 August" without stating which year, so null). Tried and not added, each for a specific, stated reason: Anglo American (no current, dated bursary-specific page found on angloamerican.com - only a graduate-programme page and a 2016 PDF); Exxaro (exxaro.com's own student-hub/workplace pages confirm a bursary exists and link to a PDF and an external portal, but neither states eligibility/coverage/closing date in readable text this pass could extract); MTN (no current official mtn.com/mtn.co.za bursary page found - only old aggregator-repeated contact details); Standard Bank (its graduate.standardbank.co.za bursary page returned a server error both times it was tried); SAIPA (its scholarship programme is real and recent, but every closing-date/eligibility claim found traced back to aggregator sites, not a specific saipa.co.za page we could fetch); Transnet (its own bursary application PDF was fetched directly from transnet.net, but it is a bare form with no eligibility/coverage text, and its only closing date - 6 October 2025 - was for the prior year's intake); Shoprite (shopriteholdings.co.za and shoprite.co.za both still 403 to this pass's fetch tool, including a specific 2025 newsroom article URL - confirms the block found in the 2026-10-01 pass still holds). SAICA Thuthuka above is unaffected (still `reported`, still no deadline).

DONE 2026-10-02: added four more REAL_EXAMPLES, each read directly from the institution's own page (6 -> 10): University of Groningen/Netherlands (rug.nl's own South Africa admission page - NSC with 7 examination subjects and an overall average of 70%, Life Orientation and Mathematical Literacy excluded, plus its own subject requirements for Science/Engineering, Economics and Medical Sciences); Trinity College Dublin/Ireland (tcd.ie's own South Africa page - four NSC/IEB "bands" on your five strongest subjects excluding Life Orientation: Special Entry 77777 down to Band 3 77666); University of Auckland/New Zealand (its own 2025 overseas-secondary-applicants PDF, fetched then read via pdftotext after WebFetch could not parse the binary stream - same method prior passes used for unreadable PDFs - gives an NSC-aggregate-to-programme table: 27 for most Arts/Science/Architecture, 30 for Business/Creative Arts, 36 for Commerce, 37 for Law/Health Sciences including Mathematics and Physical Sciences); University of Southern Indiana/USA (usi.edu's own equivalent-credentials page - NSC from 2008 onwards with 130 credits). Also replaced the two `url: null` "official student-visa page of the country's government" placeholders in Route 1's checksBox with eight real, verified links: UCAS and Common App for the UK/US centralised application systems, plus the UK (gov.uk), Australia (Study Australia/Dept of Home Affairs programme), Ireland (Immigration Service Delivery), New Zealand (Immigration NZ), Canada (IRCC) and USA (Study in the States/DHS) official student-visa pages - each fetched and confirmed to resolve to the stated official page before use. Added one new "Questions to ask" card, tagged partly `reported` (UK ENIC and WES are real, verified-by-fetch credential-evaluation services, cited directly) and partly `g()` (the IELTS/TOEFL point is general, deliberately not tied to a single source). Investigated and declined, each for a stated reason rather than guessed: Germany - every German-university page found deferred to the Anabin database or uni-assist rather than stating its own NSC-specific number, and Anabin itself could not be fetched directly (connection refused) and has no stable per-country URL, so no German entry was added; Canada - tried University of Toronto (SGS's equivalencies page is graduate-level, not an NSC admissions number), UBC, Calgary, Alberta, Waterloo, McMaster, Manitoba (WebFetch gave two inconsistent answers about whether a quoted figure was actually under a "South Africa" heading - discarded rather than risk attributing a wrong country's requirement), Simon Fraser (only an archived page could be found, with a dated "minimum average of C (60%), but normally higher" line not confirmed current) and Carleton (graduate admissions only) - none gave a current, confidently-attributable undergraduate NSC figure on the institution's own page, so Canada has no REAL_EXAMPLES entry this pass despite being a named target; a Canada IRCC visa link was still added to the checksBox since that's a country-level process fact, not a specific grade claim. UCD/Ireland and University of Otago/NZ were also found with partial matches (UCD: a Commerce-specific 61%/65%/70% figure; Otago: NSC accepted, English grade 5/C) but both 403'd on direct WebFetch and were left out in favour of the two confidently-verified entries (TCD, Auckland) already covering those two countries. `study-abroad-requirements` above has been updated to reflect the new count.

Wits

WITS_COMPOSITE_INDEX scoring system - missing "contact admissions" referral

RESOLVED 2026-10-02: when the six non-computable APS universities (Univen, UFH, MUT, SPU, UMP, SMU) each got a "contact that university's admissions office directly" line added to their scoring reason text, Wits's own non-computable system - WITS_COMPOSITE_INDEX, used for Health Sciences - was missed since it lives in a different part of src/scoring.js and wasn't part of that batch. Added the same referral, pointing at the existing wits-callcentre contact (ask.wits@wits.ac.za) already in db/data/contacts.mjs. No figures changed.

UCT

LLB, BSc Computer Science (Science Faculty), BA/BSocSc Humanities (4 rows) - FPS figures

RESOLVED: this pass's WebFetch, like every prior pass, could not parse the 2027 prospectus PDF directly (its own summariser reports binary/stream content) - but WebFetch still downloads the PDF to a local file even when it cannot summarise it, and running `pdftotext -raw` on that saved file (a technique already noted as promising in smaller-universities-floor-pass-2026-10-01 but not yet tried on UCT) recovered 6,599 lines of clean text. This closes uct-law-fps, uct-science-fps and uct-humanities-fps to a genuine raw-document read rather than search-synthesis, and found one real correction: UCT Law's Band B is a WPS of 500, not the 485 the earlier web-search pass had found (Band A 500 and Band C 470 were both already correct). Also found and added: the undergraduate LLB is capped at 10 international places with its own 510-FPS probable-admission figure (previously uncaptured); UCT Science Faculty admission requires Physical Science 60%+ faculty-wide, not just a Computer-Science-specific rule as previously hedged, and Computer Science is one of a handful of majors (with Biochemistry, Genetics, Human Anatomy & Physiology) that caps numbers after faculty admission via first-year academic selection; all four Humanities FPS figures (450/450/380) matched the earlier search-synthesis pass exactly. Also directly confirmed (no data change, just closing scoring-uct-2025-doc): this is genuinely the 2027-dated prospectus (every page header reads "2027 UNDERGRADUATE PROSPECTUS"), and the Health Sciences FPS-out-of-900 bands already shown in MBChB/Physiotherapy/OT/Audiology/Speech-Language notes (810/807/644 for MBChB, etc.) match the raw text exactly - these were already correct, not a gap, since the calculator legitimately cannot compute them without the student's NBT result. UP was checked against this pass's scope and has no open research-log gap (scoring-up-verified is already `verified`) - nothing to do there. Wits, UJ and UKZN gaps are logged separately below.

UCT

User-supplied 2026 per-faculty "Rules and Syllabuses" handbooks (UCT: 6 faculties + fees/bursaries; Wits: 6 faculties) - checked, not usable

CHECKED, NO ACTION NEEDED: the user supplied 14 more documents for UCT and Wits, both already fully raw-confirmed from stronger sources (UCT's own 2027 prospectus; Wits's live course-finder pages). Spot-read the UCT Commerce handbook and the Wits Engineering and the Built Environment eBook directly: both are "Rules and Syllabuses" documents covering curriculum structure, module content, credits/exemptions and registration rules, not matric-entry admission requirements - the Wits document explicitly tells applicants to "refer to your faculty" for the actual entry score, rather than stating one itself, and is dated 2026, a year older than the sources already in use. Given both the wrong document type and the wrong vintage, these 14 files were not mined further. Noted here so no future pass re-opens them expecting admission figures.

Wits

wits-maths-sciences-conflict: BSc Mathematical Sciences APS

RESOLVED to a raw read: a direct WebFetch of the live course-finder page (wits.ac.za/course-finder/undergraduate/science/mathematical-sciences/) confirms APS 44+, English Level 7 (or Level 6 on a 44+ wait-list band), Mathematics Level 7, Physical Science Level 7 - exactly what the existing row already showed. This resolves the 44-vs-42 conflict with the 2026 schools-liaison guide definitively in favour of 44 (previously we only knew the course-finder was the more recent source, not that it had been read directly).

Wits

wits-slo-2026-label - every remaining Source-A (dated schools-liaison guide) row

RESOLVED (except one row - see below). Followed up wits-maths-sciences-raw-read-2026-10-02 by web-searching each remaining dated programme's name + "wits course finder", then fetching the resulting wits.ac.za URL directly (confirmed reachable all pass). Moved onto a raw, current course-finder citation: all remaining Engineering & the Built Environment rows (Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, Aeronautical, Industrial, Mining, Biomedical Engineering, Digital Arts, Property Studies, Construction Studies, Urban & Regional Planning - all APS 42 or 36 formula, all confirmed unchanged), Architectural Studies, three Commerce/Law/Management rows (Accounting Science, Accounting, Economic Science - all confirmed unchanged), Computational & Applied Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Biological Sciences (confirmed unchanged), all four BA rows, and BEd Senior Phase & FET Teaching. Two real corrections, not just confidence-tier upgrades: Architectural Studies' true minimum is a Wits APS of 29, with no 34-standard/29-33-discretionary band - a prior web-search-only pass had resolved what looked like a 34-vs-29 conflict the wrong way round, publishing 34 as the qualifying figure; the live page, read twice with identical verbatim quotes, states 29 as the sole minimum. Actuarial Science is APS 44, not the 42 the 2026 schools-liaison guide gave (matching the course-finder's already-established pattern of running slightly ahead of the guide, as with BSc Mathematical Sciences). One row remains unresolved: BCom with Law is reported elsewhere (via search snippets, not an official wits.ac.za page) as APS 43+, but the general BCom course-finder page - the only official page found for this combination - gives APS 38+ with no Law-specific figure, so this stays on the dated guide pending a Law-major-specific page.

UJ

uj-capture-method, uj-pass-2 - every UJ row still search-synthesised

CONFIRMED this pass: a direct WebFetch of https://www.uj.ac.za returns HTTP 403, matching every prior pass's finding that uj.ac.za blocks this kind of automated access outright (not a PDF-parsing issue like UCT's, where the pdftotext workaround applies - UJ refuses the connection before any content is served, so there is no file to extract text from). Handed to the user as a list of specific UJ pages to screenshot, which led first to 8 confirmed rows (uj-user-screenshots-2026-10-02) and then to the user supplying the entire 2027 prospectus PDF directly (uj-full-prospectus-2026-10-02), closing UJ out completely.

UJ

User-supplied 2027 Undergraduate Prospectus PDF - cross-check against every UJ programme

RESOLVED: the user supplied UJ’s actual 2027 Undergraduate Prospectus PDF (uj_undergrad_prospectus2027_online_25jun2026.pdf, "information correct at the time of publication: April 2026"), the primary document every UJ row had been missing. Cross-checked all 19 UJ rows against it. Every figure already on record matched except duration_years, which 7 rows had as null and the prospectus states plainly (BSc IT, BCom Industrial Psychology, BEngTech Industrial, BEngTech Mining, BSc Construction, Bachelor of Arts, both BEd Senior Phase & FET rows) - all filled in, mostly 3 years (BEd rows 4 years, matching the Faculty’s own general BEd admission requirements on p.57). One real gap found and fixed: BCom in Industrial Psychology had no record at all of its Mathematical Literacy alternative path (APS 28 with Mathematical Literacy 5, not just APS 26 with Mathematics 4). One correction to a plausible-looking but unconfirmed subject alternative: the BEd Senior Phase & FET Mathematics specialisation's note previously allowed Mathematical Literacy as an alternative to teaching Mathematics, which doesn't appear in the prospectus and doesn't make sense pedagogically - removed. uj-capture-method, uj-omitted-rows, uj-health and uj-pass-2 above are now superseded by this raw-document confirmation; UJ has zero open gaps remaining from the highest-traffic pass. Not yet added (noted for a future pass, source material already in hand): UJ's many BEd Senior Phase & FET subject specialisations beyond Mathematics/Physical Science (Geography, Life Sciences, Languages, Commerce subjects - all same APS 28 formula, different subject requirements), the Faculty of Science's ~50 major-combination BSc rows (Life & Environmental Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences - all APS 30-40 range), Biokinetics and the Health Sciences allied professions (Chiropractic, Complementary Medicine, Emergency Medical Care, Podiatry, Radiography family, Environmental Health, Sport Science), and the Faculty of Art Design & Architecture's diploma/BA-in-design programmes (Communication/Digital Media/Industrial/Interior/Fashion/Visual Art Design).

UJ

Social Work, Civil/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, BSc CS&Informatics AI specialisation, BEd Foundation Phase, LLB, BCom in Accounting, Bachelor of Nursing

RESOLVED: since uj.ac.za blocks every automated request (see uj-blocked-2026-10-02), the user manually visited and screenshotted 8 UJ programme pages, which this pass read directly - the first UJ data in this project confirmed by an actual look at the live page rather than a search-engine index or indexed excerpt. Every figure already on record matched exactly except one real correction: Bachelor of Social Work is definitively APS 31 (not 31.5), settling a conflict between two previously-indexed copies of that page. Also newly captured: BCom in Accounting is a 3-year programme (previously left null); Bachelor of Nursing's selection process also weighs a structured interview and English proficiency and explicitly excludes Mathematical Literacy/Technical Mathematics/Technical Science; the LLB page names a specific admissions contact (Ms Monica Brits, mbrits@uj.ac.za, 011 559 2662) distinct from the general UJ call centre, not yet added to contacts.mjs since this project has no precedent for programme-specific contacts rather than one per university. All 8 rows upgraded from [partially-verified] (search-engine-index confidence) to a plain verified citation.

Wits

BCom with Law - the last open Wits gap

RESOLVED: the user screenshotted Wits’s general BCom course-finder page (clm/bcom/), confirming its already-recorded APS 38 and showing no mention of Law or a higher figure anywhere on it. That prompted a direct fetch of the one Law-specific BCom URL that does exist - clm/bcom-part-time-with-law/ - which confirms APS 43+ belongs specifically to the part-time route (evening lectures, no NSFAS/scholarships/residence), not a separate full-time degree. Wits has no distinct full-time "BCom with Law" - a full-time student adds Law as a major within the general BCom (APS 38) the same way other major combinations work. This closes the last open Wits item from the highest-traffic pass.

Wits

All 7 Health Sciences rows (Dentistry, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Clinical Medical Practice, Oral Health Sciences) - last Wits rows still on the dated schools-liaison guide

RESOLVED: the user asked for wits.ac.za/undergraduate/academic-programmes/, which listed every Wits faculty’s programmes - cross-referencing it against programs-wits.mjs turned up these 7 Health Sciences rows, missed in the earlier wits-raw-read-sweep-2026-10-02 pass because they live in one mapped array rather than individual entries. Fetched each one’s own live course-finder page directly. Two real corrections: Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, and Clinical Medical Practice all accept Life Sciences as an alternative to Physical Sciences (previously shown as Physical Sciences only, Dentistry already had both correctly); Occupational Therapy and Oral Health Sciences both require a job shadowing certificate (minimum 16 hours), not previously noted. This was the last place in programs-wits.mjs citing the 2026 schools-liaison guide - the sourceA/datedNote/SLO/CF constants built around it are now dead code and have been removed. Wits is genuinely, fully raw-confirmed now, BCom with Law included.

UP

User-supplied Education and EMS 2027 Faculty Brochures - cross-check and expansion

RESOLVED: the user supplied UP’s own 2027 Faculty of Education and Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences (EMS) brochures, even though UP had no open research-log gap from the highest-traffic pass (scoring-up-verified was already verified) - this pass went further and cross-checked every existing UP row against them, then added what the brochures covered that we didn’t have. Education: all five existing BEd/BEd-adjacent figures matched exactly; filled in duration_years (4, previously null) and confirmed all four BEd phases genuinely share one APS/English formula, not just our approximation of one. EMS: the five existing BCom rows all matched exactly, just missing duration_years (filled in, 3 years); corrected one mislabel (BCom specialising in Information Systems was filed under the Engineering faculty, not EMS, despite being an EMS-faculty Commerce degree with its own ABET accreditation); added 7 more specialisations the brochure fully details and for which an existing career page fits (Agribusiness Management, Business Management, Econometrics, Law, Statistics and Data Science, Supply Chain Management, and a 4-year extended/foundation BCom). Three more named specialisations - Bachelor of Administration specialising in Public Administration and International Relations, BCom specialising in Human Resource Management, BCom specialising in Marketing Management - have full admission figures in hand (APS 28-30, specific English/Maths levels) but no existing career page to point them at, so they were deliberately left out rather than mapped to an ill-fitting career_id; adding them is a quick win whenever those career pages get created.

UP

User-supplied EBIT, Law, Veterinary Science and Natural & Agricultural Sciences (SCI) 2027 Faculty Yearbooks - cross-check and expansion

RESOLVED: the user supplied the remaining UP faculty yearbooks at C:\Users\Bash\Downloads\Up, extracted via pdftotext. EBIT: up-bit's duration (previously null) confirmed at 3 years (programme code 12133215); added 7 new EBIT-faculty rows fully detailed in the yearbook with an existing career page to match - Information Science (BIS, including no-Math unless the Informatics elective is chosen, which then needs Maths level 5), BIS Multimedia, BIS Publishing, Town and Regional Planning, and three Construction Economics streams (Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Real Estate - the last one actually leads to Property Valuer registration, not a dedicated career page, noted as such). Law: up-llb's duration confirmed at 4 years - the yearbook states it is the faculty's only undergraduate qualification, everything else being postgraduate LLM/LLD. Veterinary Science: up-bvsc's duration confirmed at 6 years; also found Bachelor of Veterinary Nursing in the same yearbook but left out, no fitting career_id exists for it. SCI: the four existing rows (Actuarial & Financial Mathematics, Chemistry/Physics/Geology, Biological Sciences) matched exactly and gained duration_years (3, previously null); added 11 more individual BSc streams and 4 BScAgric streams with an existing career page fit (Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics, Mathematics, Zoology, Ecology, Plant Science, Biotechnology, Human Physiology, Geoinformatics, Geography, Environmental and Engineering Geology, plus BScAgric Animal Science/Agribusiness Management/Applied Plant and Soil Sciences/Plant Pathology). Deliberately skipped for lacking any fitting career_id: Consumer Science (two streams), Food Management (two streams), Food Science, Entomology, Human Genetics, the combined Human Physiology/Genetics/Psychology stream, Medical Sciences, and Meteorology - logged here rather than force-mapped.

UP

User-supplied Humanities 2027 Faculty Yearbook - cross-check and expansion

RESOLVED, and a real correction found: UP's Humanities admission tables split the APS into two figures - one for a provisional offer on Grade 11 results, one for the figure that actually governs once your NSC/IEB is complete - and the general BA row (up-ba) and the three rows admitted through it (up-ba-psychology, up-ba-psychology-counselling, up-ba-journalism) had all been carrying the higher, provisional Grade-11 figure (30) as min_aps instead of the binding completed-NSC figure (28); all four corrected, and all four gained duration_years (3, previously null). Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (up-ba-audiology, up-ba-slp) use a single APS column in this faculty (no split) and already matched at 32 - only duration_years needed filling in (4). Added 12 new rows the Yearbook fully details with an existing career page fit: BA specialising in Languages, Philosophy/Politics/Economics, Visual Studies (mapped to the general Humanities page, not Visual Artist/Designer, since it is criticism/history rather than studio practice - flagged as such), BPolSci (International Studies and Political Studies), BSocSci (Industrial Sociology and Labour Studies), a Tourism Management BA (mapped to Hospitality & Tourism Manager per the Yearbook's own stated career outcomes), Bachelor of Drama and Bachelor of Music (both mapped to Actor/Musician, both audition-gated), BA in Fine Arts (mapped to Visual Artist/Designer, portfolio + competency test), Bachelor of Social Work (its own UP-specific row, distinct from UCT's), and BA specialising in Law (mapped to Lawyer but flagged - the Yearbook explicitly describes it as an alternative feeder route into the LLB, not a standalone qualifying law degree).

NWU

NWU: Natural & Agricultural Sciences and Health Sciences yearbooks read - 18 new rows, 3 [unverified] rows resolved, 1 corrected

The 2026 Faculty of Natural & Agricultural Sciences yearbook (never read before) was read as images because its tables have rotated headers and merged cells: BSc streams share APS 26 with Mathematics level 5 and Physical Sciences level 4 (biological and environmental streams: Mathematics 4 or Technical Mathematics 5; actuarial, financial mathematics, quantitative risk and business analytics: Mathematics 6 and APS 32; IT: APS 26). New rows added for these plus Urban and Regional Planning (APS 28, selection test, closes 30 June) and three Mahikeng agriculture diplomas (APS 22). The Health Sciences yearbook added Biokinetics (APS 32), Dietetics (APS 30) and Physiology & Biochemistry, and CORRECTED nwu-hms: the yearbook says APS 24 and language level 4 (we had APS 26 and Life Sciences 4 from a department web page). The two physical-science BSc rows that were [unverified] are now raw-confirmed. Dates added: 30 June (Dietetics, Social Work, Occupational Hygiene and others) and 31 July (Pharmacy, Nursing, Biokinetics).

WSU

WSU: 18 rows rewritten from the 2027 brochure (several corrected), 31 new rows, every WSU row now raw-read

WSU’s 2027 Undergraduate Information Brochure & Admission Requirements, already cited as the source of the first WSU pass, has a table with an APS and subject levels for every qualification; pass 3 had mostly used department web pages and left APS null for the BSc rows. Corrections: Diploma in Civil Engineering APS 24 (we had the Extended Curriculum figure, 22); BSc Mathematics/Applied Mathematics/Physics/Chemistry/Biological Sciences now APS 25 with Mathematics 5 (Physical Sciences 5 for Physics, Chemistry and Biological Sciences, Life Sciences 5 for Biological Sciences); Diploma in Analytical Chemistry APS 22 with Physical Sciences 4; Diploma in Journalism needs English level 5. 31 new rows were added across Economic & Financial Sciences, Engineering/Built Environment/IT, Law/Humanities/Social Sciences, Management & Public Administration, Medicine & Health Sciences and Natural Sciences. The brochure lists no closing date. The 2024 faculty prospectuses and the 2025 General Prospectus in the folder are older than this brochure and were not used to override it.

NMU

NMU: 2027 Z-Card read in full - 36 new rows, 10 existing rows raw-confirmed, 1 corrected, 3 dated deadlines added

The Z-Card is a two-page A-Z poster of Applicant Scores and subject percentages; it was read as image tiles. Ten rows that were [partially-verified] (Electrical, Mechanical and Mechatronics engineering, BIT, BCom Law, BA Law, BCom Accounting, Accounting-CA, Economics, Business Management) are raw-confirmed. Corrected: BCom (Industrial Psychology & HRM) needs Mathematics 50% at AS 390 - the 35% we showed belongs to the lower-AS BAdmin and BA routes. 36 rows were added (sciences, health, business and economic sciences, humanities, education, engineering technology and technology diplomas), each with the Mathematical Literacy / Technical Mathematics AS in the note. Dates from NMU’s application guidelines: 30 June (MBChB, BPharm, BRad), 3 August (early) and 30 September (late, international and housing).

UL

UL: 2027 prospectus faculty tables read - 11 new rows, 8 existing rows rewritten, 1 removed, 4 raw-confirmed

UL-Undergraduate-Prospectus-2027.pdf has a text layer that cannot be read, so its faculty tables were read as images. Corrections: BCom Business Management APS 26 with Mathematics 3 (we had APS 20 and Mathematics 4); BCom Economics APS 26 with Economics 4; BSc Agriculture is five separate programmes at APS 24-25 (the generic APS 22 row was replaced by Plant Production, with the others in its note); BSc Environmental and Resource Studies APS 24 with Life Sciences and Geography; Water & Sanitation Sciences APS 24 with Mathematics 5 and Physical Sciences 5; the "BA (Psychology)" and "BA (General)" rows do not exist in 2027 - the prospectus lists a four-year Bachelor of Psychology and BA streams, so those rows were replaced. MBChB, Nursing, Pharmacy and Optometry are raw-confirmed. The BAcc and BCom Accountancy rows built from UL-Academic-Programme.pdf also match the 2027 prospectus - that file is from 2015 and should not be used for anything else. The prospectus has no closing dates.

Wits

Wits: every programme on the undergraduate academic-programmes index checked against its course-finder page - 25 new rows

The index at wits.ac.za/undergraduate/academic-programmes lists about 85 programmes; each course-finder page without a row was read. Added: BCom Economics, HRM, Management, PPE, Financial Sciences (APS 42, Mathematics level 7) and full-time BCom with Law (APS 43); BSc (Eng) Information Engineering; twelve Science majors (Astronomy 43, Chemistry/Geology 42, Geography, Geospatial, Environmental Studies 42, and the Biological Sciences majors at 43); Biokinetics and Biomedical Sciences (Composite Index, no APS); and BA Digital Arts, Theatre, Film & Television (closes 30 June), and Music. Not added: Health Systems Sciences (its page was unreachable) and the three part-time degrees. Mathematics and the Computer Science / Applied Mathematics majors share the existing BSc rows.

Wits

Wits: every existing row re-read against its live course-finder page (about 50 pages) plus Health Systems Sciences

All existing Wits rows (engineering, health, commerce, science, humanities) matched their live 2027 pages on APS, subject levels, duration and closing date. Two fixes: the part-time BCom with Law duration (4-6 years, now blank) and Fine Arts, which now cites its course-finder page instead of an old PDF. Added Health Systems Sciences (page now loads; Composite Index, closes 30 June) and the 30 June closing date for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Open question: the programmes index lists a full-time BCom with Law (3 years, APS 43) separately from the part-time route; wits-bcom-law-resolved-2026-10-02 concluded there was only a part-time route, so one of the two pages may be mislabelled by Wits - worth asking Wits.

Rhodes

Rhodes: 2026 Undergraduate Prospectus read; live-page band difference explained

RESOLVED 2026-10-04: the user supplied the Rhodes 2026 Undergraduate Prospectus (18 March 2026), the document our Rhodes rows already cite. Its faculty tables match our figures: Commerce BCom and BEco 34-39 Dean’s discretion / 40+ provisional, BBusSc 38-44 / 45+ with Mathematics level 6, BCom Extended Studies 34-37 (4 years); Humanities 34-44 / 45+ with English HL 60% or FAL 65%; Education 39-43 / 44+; Law 40-44 / 45+; Pharmacy 40-44 / 45+; Science 39-44 / 45+. One real error fixed: the Bachelor of Economics had been given the BBusSc bands (38-44 / 45); it is 34-39 / 40+, 3 years. Eight web-search rows (BEco, Fine Art, Journalism, five BSc majors) are now raw-confirmed, and a Bachelor of Music row was added. Earlier this day the live admission-gateway requirements page looked like a conflict because it lists the extended-studies and automatic bands under different labels (Commerce 34-37 extended / 38-44 automatic, Science 38-44 / 45+) - the prospectus is the authoritative statement, so the [conflict] flag was removed. Other facts from the prospectus: applications 1 April-30 September; the AQL NBT for everyone and the Mathematics NBT for Commerce, Pharmacy and Science; international applicants with an APS of 40+ get a firm offer and 37-39 are held to the end of September; merit scholarships by APS (Commerce 47-48 R29 940 up to full tuition at 53-56). Rhodes still has no Engineering or MBChB. Durations for BFA and BMus (4 years) come from the live curriculum pages.

UNISA

Unisa: every undergraduate row re-read against its live qualification page

All 22 Unisa rows cite their own qualification page. 20 of them were re-read on 2026-10-04 and match on APS, language and Mathematics percentages and the 17 August - 9 October 2026 application window, so they are no longer partially verified. One addition: the BSc General, BSc Applied Mathematics & Computer Science and BSc Mathematics & Information Systems pages also require 50% in Physical Science (or Technical Science), which the rows lacked. Bachelor of Administration and Diploma in IT state an APS (21 and 18) but no subject requirements on their pages, so those two rows are unchanged. Unisa lists no minimum duration (only a maximum of 8-10 years), so durations stay blank.

SMU

SMU: all 15 rows re-read against the school admission pages; Radiography added; dates verified

The School of Medicine, Health Care Sciences, Oral Health Sciences, Pharmacy and Science & Technology admission pages were read. Every row matches on APS and subject minimums (MBChB 38, BDS 37, BPharm 32, Dental Therapy and Oral Hygiene 28, Physiotherapy 28, other health programmes 25, BSc 25 with the Extended Curriculum at 24), so none are partially verified any more. Added Bachelor of Radiography (APS 25, four core subjects at level 4, about 40 places). The online-application page gives opening 1 April 2026, closing 31 July 2026 (undergraduate) and 31 August 2026 (postgraduate), and a R300 application fee.

UCT

UCT: 36 programmes added from the 2027 prospectus (Commerce specialisations, Science majors, arts, extra engineering streams)

UCT admits by faculty, so the earlier 24 rows bundled specialisations that share one entry table. The 2027 Undergraduate Prospectus (downloaded and read as text) was re-read and each specialisation given its own row so that every career fit appears: ten Commerce specialisations (BCom/BBusSc Financial Accounting for CA(SA), Economics, Finance, Information Systems, Management Studies, Marketing, Industrial & Organisational Psychology, Statistics & Data Science at Mathematics 70%, Quantitative Finance at FPS 500 and Mathematics 80%), eighteen BSc majors on the faculty-wide Science bands (FPS 660, Mathematics 70%, Physical Sciences 60%), Electrical & Computer Engineering and Mechatronics, and the Humanities programmes with audition or portfolio selection (BMus, BA Theatre & Performance, Diploma in Music Performance, Diploma in Theatre & Performance), PPE and Film & Media Production. Figures match the existing rows. The 2026 faculty handbooks in the supplied folder describe curricula, not entry points, so they were not used for figures.
